About the AAPM Newsletter

Jennifer Pursley, PhD, EditorThe AAPM Newsletter is a bi-monthly electronic publication featuring updates on AAPM activities and topics of interest to medical physicists. It serves as a platform for AAPM members to:

  • Share effective medical physics practices
  • Report on emerging trends
  • Highlight the diversity of the field
  • Spotlight important physics research

The AAPM Newsletter is also the primary source for AAPM councils, working groups, subcommittees, and officers to share updates with the membership.

Submissions

AAPM members are encouraged to submit items of interest—such as articles, suggestions, and photographs—to the Newsletter Editor for consideration. Submissions from non-members related to the field of medical physics are also welcome and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Each issue includes a limited number of AAPM non-profit and corporate affiliate advertisements, offering readers timely information about essential products, services, and events.

General Report Guidelines

To ensure consistency across all submissions, AAPM requests that reports be submitted through the QuestionPro portal and follow the formatting and content guidelines outlined below.

Report Format

  • Reports should not exceed 1,500 words. The Newsletter Editor will review all submissions and may request edits for reports exceeding this limit.
  • Submit reports in .doc or .docx format only.
  • Include a report header (example: History Committee Report).
  • Include a report title.
  • You may include an AAPM official group title — only if the report is written on behalf of an official AAPM group and you wish for it to appear with the report.
  • When mentioning an individual’s name, include their academic degree suffix (e.g., PhD, MS) without punctuation.
  • Use single spacing after punctuation at the end of sentences.

Photos, Artwork, and Charts/Graphs

  • Submit all supplementary materials (such as photos, artwork, or charts) as separate files.
  • Provide a caption for each supplementary file within the report.
  • If your report includes multiple supplementary files, upload them together as a single ZIP file to the Dropbox folder linked at the bottom of the QuestionPro submission form.
  • If you have a specific preference for the placement of any images, note this clearly within your report.

Copyright Permission

  • Upon submission, you will be asked to indicate whether your report includes any copyrighted materials.
  • If copyrighted materials are included, please ensure the report clearly states that they are used with permission.

Author Photos

  • Please include photos of all authors with your submission.
  • For multiple authors, upload photos as supplemental files.
  • If a photo was previously submitted, there is no need to upload it again—simply note this at the top of your report.

Sidebar Content

Each report (with the exception of

Special Interest Group

reports) includes a

sidebar

designed to highlight key points and capture the reader’s attention.

If you have specific content that you would like featured in the sidebar—whether new or drawn from your report—please

include it with your submission

for consideration.

The report submission deadline schedule is below.
