ACC Police rapid response results in quick arrest of suspect in attack near campus
Posted on April 17, 2026
The Austin Community College District Police Department (ACC PD) is working with the Austin Police Department (APD) to investigate a reported stabbing that happened in a wooded area near the ACC Riverside Campus on Friday, April 17.
ACC PD received an urgent disturbance call around 8:45 a.m. ACC officers arrived within minutes and found two injured individuals, plus another person in connection with the incident. The third individual was immediately detained, and an emergency notification was issued to all employees and students.
Austin-Travis County EMS medics transported the two injured individuals, one of whom had wounds consistent with a bladed weapon, to South Austin Medical Center. Both are in stable condition.
“I’m proud of our officers. They acted quickly, decisively, and with the level of care our community deserves,” says Chief Gizette Disher, ACC Police Department. “Their actions reflect our ongoing commitment to ensuring every call is met with urgency and a focus on keeping our community safe.”
According to police, the attack remains under investigation but appears to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the community.
The suspect has been transported to the Travis County jail. Aggravated assault charges are pending.
