Admissions Process
Pacific Union College operates on a rolling admissions basis, meaning there is no strict deadline, allowing students to apply throughout the year. However, it is recommended to apply early for the best selection of classes and housing.
Early Acceptance
If you’re a high school senior with top-notch grades, you can get accepted to PUC based on the work you’ve done freshman through junior year of high school. We call this type of application "Early Acceptance", which is very similar to an Early Action or Early Decision application. You can apply for Early Acceptance by following these steps:

Admissions Requirements for Early Acceptance
Early acceptance works on a rolling deadline so please submit your information as soon as can. You may receive early acceptance to PUC if you qualify based on both of these requirements:
Have a secondary-school (high school) unweighted GPA of at least 2.75 over six semesters (freshman-junior year).

Admissions Requirements for First-Time College Students
To be eligible for admission, first-time college students must meet one of the following criteria:
High School Graduates: Students must have graduated from secondary school with an unweighted GPA of at least 2.5.
General Educational Development (GED):
2002-2014 Version: Students must achieve a standard score of at least 400 on each of the five tests and an average standard score of at least 500 across all five tests.
· 2014 Version: Students must score at least 165 on each of the four tests and maintain an average standard score of at least 177.
California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE): Students must have achieved a passing score and fulfill additional requirements:
Successful completion of at least two years of secondary school.
A letter from the applicant explaining the rationale for early college entrance.
Note: The CHSPE was discontinued on June 30, 2023.
International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE):
Students must complete the IGCSE program, including five subjects with exam grades of C or higher and obtain a program diploma.
HiSET Exam:
Old Version: Students needed a standard score of at least 12 in each of the five sections and a combined score of at least 75 across all sections.
New Version: Students must achieve a standard score of at least 15 on each of the three subsets, score at least 4 out of 6 on the Writing subtest essay, and attain a total scaled score of at least 45 out of 60 across all three subtests.
Home School Applicants
Students must provide home school transcripts and may be required to submit ACT, SAT, GED, CHSPE, or HiSET scores. Please ensure that all documentation is sent to

Transfer Student
We're here to help you navigate the transfer application process! PUC is on the quarter system and we accept transfer students at any point in their program, so don’t worry about completing a certain number of credits before transferring. PUC also participates in the Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) pathway and offers a variety of degree options for students graduating with an Associate in Arts for Transfer (AA-T) or an Associate in Science for Transfer (AS-T) from a California community college. We would be thrilled to have you join our Pioneer family.

Nursing Student
If you have completed all prerequisite courses and are ready to apply directly to PUC’s associates degree in nursing program, or if you already have your R.N. and want to apply to PUC’s bachelor’s in nursing program, please refer directly to the applications available on the website for the
department of nursing and emergency management
Students who still need to take additional pre-nursing courses should apply for regular admission as first-time or transfer students and work with PUC’s pre-nursing advisor before applying to the program.
Graduate Student
Admission to the MBA Program
All potential students, including former Pacific Union College students, must apply for admission both to the college and to the M.B.A program. The application will be considered once official postsecondary transcripts and other requested materials have been filed with the PUC Admissions Office. Admission is determined by the Business Department faculty on the basis of credentials held, recommendations, former academic performance, and background.
Admission to Pacific Union College.
A baccalaureate degree (any major) from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
Submission of a graduate application that includes the following:
online application form;
application fee of $40 (non-refundable);
two recommendations (completed by work supervisors or undergraduate professors);
official transcripts from all institutions attended;
a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0; and
official scores from the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), taken within the past five years.
Note: With Business Department approval, applicants may be admitted without the GMAT if they have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 or if they have at least five years of full-time business-related management experience.
Recommended: Completion of the following courses at the undergraduate level with a grade of “C-” or higher:
All Emphases:
a) Accounting (ACCT 121+122+123 or equivalent)
b) Finance (FIN 341 or equivalent)
Admission to the MSN Program
Pacific Union College offers three routes of entry for Registered Nurses seeking a Master of Science in Nursing degree. The Graduate Record Exam (GRE), generally required for admission to master’s degree programs, is NOT required for admission. The pathways to the Master of Science in Nursing degree are as follows:
Traditional Entry
Bridge Program
R.N.-to-M.S.N. Fast Track
Admission requirements are those published in the General Catalog in effect during the year of the student’s admission to the Nursing Program. The nursing and emergency management Department reserves the right to admit or deny admission to individuals applying for admission to the Nursing Program.
In addition to the requirements for admission to the college,
the following criteria must be met:
Completion of a bachelor of science degree in nursing from a program accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE. Registered nurses with a bachelor degree in a related field may seek
admission through the Bridge Program.
Hold a current license to practice professional nursing in the state where they live.
Applicants must submit an application for admission to the Nursing Program. Application packets are available at the department office and

Admission to the M.Ed. Program
All potential students, including former Pacific Union College students, must apply for admission both to the college and to the M.Ed. program. Please contact the Credential Analyst in the Education Department for application materials. The prerequisites for admission are as follows:
A baccalaureate degree from a regionally-accredited institution of higher education.
A state credential or SDA credential, or eligibility for these credentials.
Admission to Pacific Union College.
Submission of a graduate application to the Education Department that includes the following:
application form
two recommendations
official transcripts
interview with department chair and one other Education faculty member
essay discussing interests and goals
A minimum GPA of 3.0 in each of the following areas:
Undergraduate upper-division major
Education courses
Overall college work, or the last 96 quarter hours
Acceptable scores in the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test.
A proposed program of studies appropriate to the student’s strengths, interests, and professional goals.
Student Veterans
PUC welcomes student veterans and active duty personnel to our distinctly Christian liberal arts campus. PUC is a Yellow Ribbon Program school and has a Student Veterans Task Force to make the transition from military service to college life as smooth as possible.

Honors Student
The Honors Program at Pacific Union College provides a stimulating environment alternative to the General Education requirements for any baccalaureate degree. Join a cohort of serious scholars in seminars focused on in-depth understanding through lively discussions.
As an alternative to the GE program, Honors emphasizes:
Original texts over textbooks
Discussion over lecture
Interdisciplinary depth and rigor
Honors provides you these opportunities:
Study abroad
Work closely with faculty mentors
Distinguish your academic record for graduate or professional school
Receive a $1,000 scholarship following completion of the capstone project
Entry requirements:
Strong reading, critical thinking, and writing skills
High school GPA of 3.5
SAT of 1200 or ACT of 26

Freshmen enrollment is limited to 20 students per year. Online applications are reviewed monthly until all seats are filled.

Check in with Your Admissions Counselor
Your counselor is your go-to person if you have questions during the admissions process. Talk with them regularly to make sure you’re on track every step of the way.

Your student accounts are your online access point for registration, class information, statements, your student email,your housing form, and more.

Submit Your Pioneers Commitment Form
Before you're able to register for classes or make housing plans, you will need to make your commitment to PUC by submitting the Pioneers Commitment form.
Reserve Housing
When you submit your Pioneers Commitment form, you will also be able to reserve your dorm room or other housing. If you're an unmarried student under the age of 22, you will be expected to stay in one of PUC's residence halls, with limited exceptions.

Make Financial Aid Arrangements
Your PUC financial counselor will help build a financial aid package that meets your family’s need and fits your budget. Submitting your
FAFSA
is a great place to start. Let your financial counselor know if you need ideas of places to look for scholarships and grants, and if you need more aid.
Submit Your Health Forms
It’s time for a checkup! Make an appointment with your primary health provider and fill out the
Health Information Form
. You will also need to submit a record of childhood immunizations and the results from a tuberculosis skin test (taken within the last year).
As of 9/1/24 students must acquire their own medical insurance and provide proof of coverage submitted with their completed Health Information Form.
