Nell'architettura degli archetipi che fissano nel tempo l'alleanza tra uomo e Cielo risiede il se... more Nell'architettura degli archetipi che fissano nel tempo l'alleanza tra uomo e Cielo risiede il segreto di quel formidabile potere attrattivo che taluni monumenti del passato hanno esercitato e ancora esercitano sull'immaginario collettivo. Ancora oggi, osservando il Fegato di Piacenza si è colti da quella medesima sensazione: la percezione istintiva dell'esistenza di un ordine che regola le relazioni tra le parti, unita alla percezione razionale di una loro insondabile complessità. Questo doppio stato d'animo accompagnerà lo studio dell'oggetto fin dal momento del suo primo rinvenimento, scatenando reazioni contrastanti, tra cui una prima netta negazione di autenticità da parte del mondo accademico italiano, e giocherà in seguito un ruolo fondamentale nei diversi tentativi di decifrazione, condizionandone irrimediabilmente l'esito 1 . La mancanza di una prospettiva d'indagine propriamente archeologica, che non fosse cioè unicamente mossa dall'analisi del contenuto epigrafico, ma che fosse anche attenta ad altri contesti materiali su cui confrontarsi, ha portato, da subito, a deviare l'attenzione degli studiosi da altre vie percorribili, non ultima quella di un confronto diretto con il principale campo applicativo del rito etrusco e latino della limitatio, quello che vede nella descrizione sul terreno del templum augurale un ambito dottrinale che trovava una precisa e specifica applicazione nelle pratiche divinatorie e nei culti di fondazione delle città. Nuove scoperte archeologiche tra i torrenti Quaderna e Idice e nuove considerazioni sulla topo-gr... more Nuove scoperte archeologiche tra i torrenti Quaderna e Idice e nuove considerazioni sulla topo-grafia della città romana di Claterna consentono oggi di ripercorrere più di 50 anni di ricerche di natura indiziaria sul percorso della via Flaminia minore nell’Appennino bolognese orientale, distinguendola definitivamente da una seconda via di età imperiale, detta “Claudia”, che congiun-geva Bononia con Florentia. Il riconoscimento della via in uscita da Claterna e il rinvenimento di un antico ponte e di imponenti resti di lastricati lungo la valle del Quaderna e tra l’Idice e lo Zena portano ad una ipotesi definitiva sulle diramazioni del suo tracciato in direzione di Bononia.

COVID19. La Norimberga della scienza, 2021
Sono oramai passati 12 mesi dall'inizio della epidemia globale COVID19 e ancora oggi non si posso... more Sono oramai passati 12 mesi dall'inizio della epidemia globale COVID19 e ancora oggi non si possono definire i contorni e i limiti temporali dell'intera vicenda. E' comunque già chiaro l'impatto che questa avrà sulla memoria storica della nostra generazione e su quella delle generazioni future. Mai nella Storia di chi governa le Nazioni si era assistito ad un intervento di salute pubblica così radicale, congiunto e globale, da indurre alla sostanziale limitazione di alcuni tra i più elementari diritti civili delle popolazioni sottoposte, fra cui il diritto alla mobilità, alla partecipazione a funzioni religiose e funerarie, oppure all'esercizio della ristorazione o del libero commercio. Fra tutte spicca per l'Italia la scelta di sospendere quelle consuetudini sociali più collegate con l'esercizio del tempo libero, per cui nell'emergenza è stato considerato eticamente "sacrificabile" il settore economico del turismo, contrariamente alle attività del grande commercio e dell'industria, con tutti i micro e macro settori economici collegati. In particolare i provvedimenti restrittivi, hanno riguardato gli eventi collettivi collegati con la cultura e l'apprendimento, e dunque la scuola e l'università, la convivialità, la salute psico-fisica, la ristorazione, ovvero l'esercizio dell'arte, della cultura e dello sport. Queste scelte politiche sono state motivate da una prima dichiarazione di principio da cui sono derivate tutte le altre: la cosa in assoluto più importante, per l'interesse e la tutela dei cittadini, è la salute. Da questa prima asserzione è derivata l'idea secondo cui per risolvere il problema COVID19 le istituzioni politiche si dovevano affidare alla Scienza, ovvero alle prescrizioni di appositi Enti o commissioni composte da epidemiologi, virologi, immunologi e medici. Si è così giunti ad una soluzione, caldamente suggerita da questi ultimi, che per uscire dallo stato di pandemia globale fosse necessario, per forza di cose, attuare un programma di vaccinazione di massa che coinvolgesse l'intera popolazione mondiale, fino al raggiungimento della così detta "immunità di gregge", pari a circa il 70% degli individui vaccinati. Da una semplice e non discussa affermazione di principio, per nulla scontata e non necessariamente condivisibile, si è così giunti a decisioni abnormi che hanno comportato gravissime ricadute sull'ordine sociale e sulla stabilità economica di intere aree continentali del pianeta. Prima considerazione-Agli occhi di uno storico, e non di un epidemiologo, la salute è certamente un valore importante, ma è un principio che non può essere affermato in termini assoluti senza considerare i valori etici che lo precedono, che sono la libertà e la conquista dei diritti civili dei cittadini. Che fine avrebbero fatto questi valori condivisi se tutti coloro che in passato hanno sacrificato la vita per la nostra libertà avessero mai pensato che il principio da cui derivavano tutti gli altri era la "salute"? La conquista della libertà viene prima del diritto alla salute e limitare diritti civili fondamentali dei cittadini sulla base di questa sola idea è cosa sbagliata, perchè indica la predisposizione ad invertire l'ordine dei problemi. In condizioni storiche diverse, gli stessi che oggi affermano che "l'importante è la salute" avrebbero mandato a morire milioni di persone sostenendo che il valore primario per il Popolo non era la salute, ma la Patria e il suo principio di autoderminazione. Il paragone non è irrispettoso, perchè anche nell'attuale circostanza di pandemia da COVID19 i più hanno affermato che siamo in presenza di una vera e propria guerra e si è più volte ripetuto che per vincerla è necessario il sacrificio di tutti: intendendo con tutti, i soli che più si espongono nella lotta al contagio e le categorie sociali più economicamente colpite dalle restrizioni. Dunque nulla di nuovo, se non il fatto che i tempi sono cambiati, e se una volta la guerra andava vinta con il sacrificio della vita di molti, oggi il sacrificio richiesto si limita alla sospensione della libertà di tutti. Che l'assunto iniziale sia eticamente sbagliato è inoltre dimostrato dal fatto che se due principi di verità opposti-il diritto alla salute e il sacrificio della salute-vengono ugualmente anteposti l'uno all'altro al variare delle circostanze storiche, questi non possono costituire in nessun caso una verità etica condivisibile. Ad essere pragmatici, la storia ci insegna che l'unico reale principio di verità risiede in quelle circostanze che, pur essendo state taciute, dimostrano di non variare al variare di quelle condizioni. Dalle considerazioni fatte, l'unica verità condivisibile è che, sia nelle guerre del passato sia in questa, all'interesse dei cittadini viene anteposto l'interesse degli strateghi della rispettiva guerra: in passato sono stati gli interessi della classe militare, in accordo con i produttori di armi; oggi lo sono gli interessi dei virologi e degli epidemiologi, in accordo con i produttori di farmaci. In tutti i casi le strategie vengono attuate sulla nostra testa e non è di poco conto chiedersi quale sarà il loro costo sociale ed economico e se saranno realmente efficaci e ispirate al conseguimento degli obbiettivi etici dichiarati. Non ultimo, è lecito chiederci se ci porteranno ad una vittora o ad una cocente sconfitta. La millenaria memoria del nome dei luoghi restituisce oggi l’identità di tre antiche strade dimen... more La millenaria memoria del nome dei luoghi restituisce oggi l’identità di tre antiche strade dimenticate che attraversarono in età romana l’Appennino bolognese – la Flaminia minore, la Claudia e la Cassiola – vie che costituirono uno dei più formidabili collegamenti stradali dell’Impero tra la VII e la VIII Regio, tra il mondo mediterraneo e l’Europa transalpina. La completa scomparsa dell’antica Claterna – unica città della via Emilia che non sopravvisse al passaggio dall’antichità al Medioevo – e la decadenza di Bononia, città martire della violenta transizione ad una nuova era, sono tra i motivi dell’abbandono definitivo dei loro tracciati, il cui avanzato disegno venne travolto dalla fine dell’Antichità e dal crollo di un intero orizzonte storico di millenario progresso, razionalità e civiltà del modo di costruire strade lungo gli impervi cammini del nostro Appennino. Una invenzione del concetto stesso di “strada”, che fu per la prima volta concepito dalla cultura etrusca e romana come consapevole costruzione di una traccia indelebilmente impressa nelle linee del paesaggio e nel pensiero di chi le attraversava. Traccia che avrebbe per sempre fissato, nei secoli a venire, quei solchi del “Cammino della Storia” che qui, pur nella imperscrutabile variabilità dei loro destini, abbiamo voluto ritrovare e nuovamente percorrere.

The millenary memory of the names of places today restores the identity of three ancient forgotte... more The millenary memory of the names of places today restores the identity of three ancient forgotten roads that crossed the Bolognese Apennines in Roman times – the Flaminia Minor, the Claudia and the Cassiola – roads that constituted one of the most formidable road connections of the Empire between the VII and VIII Regio, between the Mediterranean world and transalpine Europe. The complete disappearance of the ancient Claterna – the only city on the Via Emilia that did not survive the transition from antiquity to the Middle Ages – and the decadence of Bononia , a martyr city of the violent transition to a new era, are among the reasons for the definitive abandonment of their routes, whose advanced design was overwhelmed by the end of Antiquity and the collapse of an entire historical horizon of millenary progress, rationality and civilization in the way of building roads along the impervious paths of our Apennines. An invention of the very concept of “road”, which was first conceived by Etruscan and Roman culture as a conscious construction of a trace indelibly impressed on the lines of the landscape and in the thoughts of those who crossed them. A trace that would forever fix, in the centuries to come, those furrows of the “Path of History” that here, despite the inscrutable variability of their destinies, we wanted to find again and travel again.

The Sun, the Moon, the constellations, the 16 annual stations of a ritual liturgical calendar and the 6 doors that mark the rising rhythm of the celestial bodies on the solstitial arch: therefore are these the key elements to understand the complex plot of inscriptions present on the Etruscan Liver of Piacenza?
In the previous volume we had come to the conclusion that the little bronze could be a symbolic and stylized model of the same Liver of Tiāmat, "with an instrumental function for the calculation of the cyclical phases of time". From the moment any link with the hepatoscopic practice was dissolved, we wondered what would have happened to the entire castle of conjecture on the 16 regions of the peripheral ribbon if, in other contexts, we had arrived to show that the ideal image of the heavenly Templum had presented a different figure and a different orientation system with respect to what is traditionally hypothesized. The answer was more than obvious: the whole castle would have collapsed and the interpretation of the Liver of Piacenza would have had to be completely re-established on new foundations.
And it is precisely these the point of arrival of the long research that in the previous volume has allowed us to connect the geometry of the solar Templum of the place to the meanings of one of the most guarded mystery doctrines of antiquity: the great secrets of Heaven and Subsoil which were imprinted on the liver of the ancient mother Tiāmat, at the time of the cosmogonic refoundation. And it will be precisely the astronomical mechanism of the solar Templum of the place, as we have found it described in Enoc's "Book of Astronomy", which will now provide us with the interpretative key from which to start again to arrive at its complete deciphering.
Will so be revealed the functions of one of the most extraordinary ritual instruments of antiquity for the calculation of the liturgical dimension of the passage of time, the first handheld object, analogical digital, never found, able to fix its rhythms and geometries.
But the one to which his deciphering will take us is much more than this, because its symbolic and instrumental content will open future new and extraordinary research perspectives on the conceptual foundations of the same "Etruscan discipline" and on the processes that will bring the ambit of the "Tyrrhenian Etruria" to its extreme northern Po Valley border.
The line of the 45th parallel that is crossed by the great river of northern Italy which welcomed the remains of Fetonte, coincides with the ancient axis of equilibrium that was of the cosmic order of origins and corresponds to that "equator gnomonic "which is precisely reflected in the instrumental functions of the model. On the liver, this finding is represented by an engraved sign that is always present on the most ancient hepatoscopic models of the Near East, and whose translation in the akkadian term padānu shows an extraordinary familiarity with the name that will later be attributed to that plain and to his great river.

The great Poem of Babylonian Creation, the myth of Enmeduranki, the book of secrets of Enoch, the scrolls of Qumran. For the first time a single research path reveals the connections between a small bronze model of liver found in Ciavernasco of Piacenza, at the dawn of the unification of Italy, and the hidden plot of one of the most guarded mysteric disciplines of antiquity .
The threshold of time, that which is permanently defined by the alternation of state between day and night and which is induced by the continuous motion of rotation of the celestial framework, is the very essence of the principle on which the whole cosmological construction will be based. From this conceptual dimension of the sacred, which will correspond, in different places and traditions, and declined only formally in different times and ways, all the doctrinal theories of the ancient world on the nature of time and its origin. It is in this conceptual construction that the legacy of the religious orders of the Mesopotamian cultures - the one we find in the West still expressed within the Etruscan religion at the time of writing Qumran manuscripts - differs from others in assigning a key cosmogonic role to the functions of the liver, as a mundus of the body and metaphysical "threshold" placed at the origin of life and of the universe itself.
To the extent that the rhythms and rules of the passage of the great stars and the entire celestial framework on the threshold between light and darkness constituted the key to approaching the Great Secrets of the Cosmos, it was logical to imagine that the Great Babylonian Creation Poem had indicated right in the liver of Tiāmat, the germinator center of the ancient Mother on which Marduk recompiled the new celestial order, the vital seat for the "empathic" understanding of those laws.
Like a mirror of the "enimmatic" configurations that the system would have assumed in its future temporal development, the divination based on the inspection of the liver was considered in Mesopotamia, and then again for the Greeks and the Etruscans, the first and most important form of interrogation of the future destinies. And it is to this more extensive cosmological construction, and not to the only and changing outcomes of the judgments derived from it, that it is more correctly traced the interpretation of one of the most enigmatic archaeological finds of antiquity: the Etruscan Liver of Piacenza.

Marzabotto, Banzi, Rome, Este. An unprecedented prospect of research links Italy of Rome to unsuspected and less known places, in search of one of the most guarded secrets of history: the augural rite of foundation of etruscan and latin cities. The starting point is the unveiling of the hidden design of the urban form of the Etruscan city of Marzabotto (Kailua) and its analogy with the cosmological foundation of the three descending cosmic levels: the celestial, the terrestrial and the inferior. To these dimensions, and to the relative transcendent entities, the augury of foundation is directed, whose goal is the reunification of the three temples in one great templum. The sequence of ritual acts is then a sort of inverted cosmogony, where the very act of birth has violently divided back to the primordial unity. The liturgy of the foundation rite would thus continue to express in itself the evocative and dramaturgical power of the sacrifice of the cosmogonic myths of the origins, as a ritual re-enactment of the violent act of death and rebirth which arises at the beginning of time and at the origin of every new spatial order. The perpetuation of this act takes place therefore in the dimension of Time, where it is the expression of a Sacred Space whose essence is inherent in the continuous rotation of the celestial bodies around a center, or axis, which identifies its origin and the beginning. Both dimensions thus reveal their sacred value in the geometry of the eternal movement of the stars, in the numbers and in the relationships that distinguish the rhythms and phases: first of all the one related to the design of the Sun's motions - the Solar Templum - expressed by arithmogeometric figure that describes the main annual stations of rising and sunset on the local horizon of the observer. The geometry of the solar Templum of the place, as a union of the three temples, indicates the figure that identifies the spatial directions and the temporal instants within which the miracle of the "Communion of the Worlds" occurs, a communion whose liturgical action is admirably expressed in the very act of contemplatio.

Both dimensions thus reveal their sacred value in the geometry of the eternal movement of the stars, in the numbers and in the relationships that distinguish the rhythms and phases: first of all the one related to the design of the Sun's motions - the Solar Templum - expressed by arithmogeometric figure that describes the main annual stations of rising and sunset on the local horizon of the observer. The geometry of the solar Templum of the place, as a union of the three temples, indicates the figure that identifies the spatial directions and the temporal instants within which the miracle of the "Communion of the Worlds" occurs, a communion whose liturgical action is admirably expressed in the very act of contemplatio.

Nuove scoperte archeologiche tra i torrenti Quaderna e Idice e nuove considerazioni sulla topogra... more Nuove scoperte archeologiche tra i torrenti Quaderna e Idice e nuove considerazioni sulla topografia della città romana di Claterna consentono oggi di ripercorrere più di 50 anni di ricerche di natura indiziaria sul percorso della via Flaminia minore nell'Appennino bolognese orientale, distinguendola definitivamente da una seconda via di età imperiale, detta "Claudia", che congiungeva Bononia con Florentia. Il riconoscimento della via in uscita da Claterna e il rinvenimento di un antico ponte e di imponenti resti di lastricati lungo la valle del Quaderna e tra l'Idice e lo Zena portano ad una ipotesi definitiva sulle diramazioni del suo tracciato in direzione di Bononia.
