Admissions Deadlines
Admissions to any graduate degree program is granted by the Dean of the Graduate School upon the recommendation of the
department of proposed study
. Deadlines set by the Graduate School are listed in the
Auburn University Bulletin
. However, most academic units make admission decisions several months in advance. Thus,
applicants should check with the department to which they seek admission to determine application deadlines and when materials should be submitted.
Applications and all other relevant material must be received by the Graduate School at least 45 days before the first day of class of the semester in which the student wishes to begin graduate study.
International applicants
should submit all required materials at least 90 days before the first day of class of the semester in which the student wishes to begin graduate study.
These are general requirements and should be considered Auburn University minimums. Please consult with specific departments concerning additional requirements.

Test Scores
Auburn University Graduate School does not require the GRE or GMAT; however programs and departments may require official test scores for admission or for consideration for funding. A full list of Auburn University graduate programs with GPO contact information can be found on our

Some graduate programs have agreed to suspend the GRE/GMAT requirement or waive the requirement on an exception basis. For a full list of programs that are waiving test score requirements, please visit
Test Scores & Waivers
Test of English Proficiency
International applicants may self-report unofficial English language proficiency test scores at the time of application submission and arrange for
official
scores to be sent by the testing agency directly to the Auburn University Graduate School immediately thereafter. Applications
will not
be considered until one of these official test scores has been received by the Graduate School.
All international applicants
must submit
an
official
test score directly from one of the accepted language proficiency testing services. Please see the
International Applicant Instructions
page for more details.
Application
All application materials are submitted through an online application portal. Create an account and complete all requested information on the
graduate admissions application
. You may save the application and come back to it later to finish, submit, or to check on the status.
For questions or help with your login, email
Graduate Admissions.
Recommendation Letters
Up to three
(3) letters of recommendation
may be required by the department. Applicants should contact the department to find out, first, if recommendation letters are required, and if so, how many.
Once the applicant logs into the application portal and selects the program of interest, the number of references required will be indicated within the application. Applicants will then complete contact information for
professional or academic references
as requested within the application portal.
Recommenders will receive an email invitation to complete an online reference with a series of questions and an optional upload link where a formal letter can be submitted, either typed or in PDF. This email invitation will go to the email address provided by the applicant in the admissions portal, so please ensure accuracy. Notify your recommenders of this pending email invitation in case the email is filtered into a junk/spam folder.
Transcripts
All applicants must submit one transcript from
all institutions
attended, including any current or previous institutions. At the time of application submission, applicants may upload unofficial transcripts into the applicant portal. If recommended for admission by the department, applicants must then submit
official transcripts
and clear any registration holds prior to enrollment.
Transcripts should include all undergraduate and any graduate credits from
each school
previously attended. Official electronic transcripts from domestic institutions may be sent to
graduatetranscripts@auburn.edu
If the transcript is from Auburn University, the Graduate School will acquire the transcript for you.
International applicants should provide an official original language transcript
and
final diploma/certificate(s) accompanied by a certified English translation of each document.
Application Fee Payment
Once all requested information is completed, the applicant must submit the online application and pay an application fee. Submitted applications will not be considered until payment has been received.
Application fees are $60 for domestic students and $70 for international students (US dollars).
Applicants to the Doctor of Physical Therapy program will be assessed a $200 application fee, and are not eligible for an application fee waiver.
The following applicants are eligible for a fee waiver:
Current Auburn University graduate students enrolled in graduate courses
Full-time Auburn University employees
Active Duty Military with a letter confirming duty
Applicants to an approved dual program – the second application fee is waived
Applicants who are eligible for one of the fee waivers listed above may select that option when completing the payment information section of the application. Once selected, follow the relevant steps to provide any supporting documentation.
The Dean of the Graduate School is the only person at Auburn University authorized to admit students, refuse admission, or waive any requirement.
