10 years of Living City
The LIVING CITY project is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at revitalising the city’s core and enhancing its appeal as a dynamic community hub. The focus of this endeavour was, and continues to be, on developing new retail, business, and community precincts, showcasing Devonport’s unique strengths in tourism, arts, food, and services. The project has spurred significant economic growth, attracting an estimated $250 million in investment over a 5–10-year construction period and creating up to 830 permanent jobs.
The Council, with the help of Moon Cheese Studios, produced a video detailing the history of the LIVING CITY project, offering a reflection on the progress made since the launch of the Master Plan a decade ago. This video illustrates the impressive transformation of Devonport, driven by the visionary efforts of the initiative.
Mid-Term Report
Devonport City Council developed a Term Plan 2022-2026 to outline and emphasise its focus and priorities over the four-year Council term. Designed to align with the Council’s long-term Strategic Plan, the Term Plan articulates a vision and aspirations towards 2026. It is structured around Council’s five strategic goals, each accompanied by specific priorities that guide more detailed planning during the annual budgeting process. This approach ensures a fully integrated planning framework, aligning strategic actions with the broader strategic direction.
To highlight the progress and achievements of the Councillors in their first two years of service, Council created a video update marking the halfway point of the Term Plan. This video showcases the actions taken and milestones reached, featuring footage of Councillors at various City locations. Produced in collaboration with local firm Moon Cheese Studio, it premiered at the “State of the City” Breakfast to keep the community informed and engaged.
