Economics
Economics can be defined in a few different ways. It’s the study of scarcity, the
study of how people use resources and respond to incentives, or the study of decision-making.
It often involves topics like wealth and finance, but it’s not all about money. Economics
is a broad discipline that helps us understand historical trends, interpret today’s
headlines, and make predictions about the coming years.
Economics ranges from the very small to the very large. The study of individual decisions
is called microeconomics. The study of the economy as a whole is called macroeconomics.
A microeconomist might focus on families’ medical debt, whereas a macroeconomist might
focus on sovereign debt.
Entrepreneurship & Business Development
In a growing Tri-Cities region, this certificate provides support to individuals looking
to start their own business or capitalize on a great idea. The coursework assists
you with creating a solid business plan, developing product prototypes and networking
with industry professionals to learn the best practices to jump start your career.

These professionals ensure the smooth and efficient flow of goods and services, crucial
for our economy and daily life. Committed and innovative, logistics specialists are
devoted to enhancing supply chain resilience and supporting the backbone of our community.

Student
“I strategically chose the one-year certification in Accounting at CBC wanting to learn
more about business, taxes and how business accounting works. Through the Business
program, I've not only received a great education, but also found a sense of belonging
in the DECA club. What I thought would be a one and done participation for extra credit
turned into scoring second place at the state DECA competition, competing at nationals
and taking a leadership role as President of the club! Making the decision to go to
CBC has changed my future for the better.”
