Matriculation 2024: Wigwe University Welcomes a New Generation of Trailblazers
The air was electric with excitement on November 14, 2024, as Wigwe University hosted its inaugural matriculation ceremony, a moment that will forever be etched in the history of this prestigious institution.
Against
the backdrop of
academic excellence and innovation, the event unfolded with a celebration of partnerships, gratitude, and bold aspirations. At the heart of it all was a warm acknowledgment of the unwavering support extended by the Rivers State Government.
His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, Governor of Rivers State, extended his commendations for Herbert Wigwe’s visionary commitment to advancing education in the region. Dr. Ovy Chinedum Chukwuma, Honourable Minister for Education, alongside other distinguished Rivers State indigenes, was lauded for their collective contributions to Wigwe University’s rapid growth. Their backing, noted by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Marwan Al-Akaidi, has been instrumental in shaping a fertile ground for academic excellence and impactful community development.
A special highlight of the day was the recognition of Miss Otutochi Wigwe, the daughter of the university’s founder and Director of the Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe Foundation at The HOW Foundation. With her words of encouragement and steadfast support, Otutochi Wigwe inspired both the incoming students and the institution’s leadership to stay the course of innovation and excellence.
