DISCOVER LINCOLN
Steps Away: Verified
Walk to lectures, friends, nights out — everything.
At Lincoln, you’re steps from your lectures, coffee, friends, nights out – the whole student city experience. With the campus and city centre sharing a waterfront, everything that matters is a short walk away – not a bus ride. And when you want more, just stroll to the train station. You can be in London in two hours.
Historic Lincoln
Just minutes from campus, Steep Hill leads into the Cathedral Quarter and Bailgate — a historic area filled with independent shops, cafés, and character. At the top, Lincoln Cathedral and Castle offer iconic views and stories.
Lincoln Cathedral and Castle
Overlooking the city, Lincoln Cathedral is one of Europe’s most iconic medieval buildings—and it was once the tallest in the world. It also doubles as the epic backdrop for the University’s graduation ceremonies. Just down the road, Lincoln Castle is home to one of only four surviving 1215 Magna Carta originals.
Small City. Big Vibes.
Little old boring Lincoln? Far from it. Lincoln combines historic streets with a modern city feel — from independent shops to well-known favourites, and everything in between.
Cornhill Quarter
The newly developed Cornhill Quarter is home to a range of independent and boutique stores alongside national brands and chains, bars, and a cinema.
The Bailgate
The Bailgate area features independent shops and cafes nestled between the walls of the medieval Lincoln Castle and the grandeur of Lincoln Cathedral.
Brayford Pool
Within walking distance of the University is a range of restaurants, cafes, and a multi-screen cinema overlooking one of Lincoln's most iconic sights, Brayford Pool’s marina.
Entertainment on Your Doorstep
Lincoln’s entertainment scene brings together live music, comedy, theatre, and art — much of it right on your doorstep. With venues on campus and across the city, there’s always something happening.
The Engine Shed
The Engine Shed is the largest entertainment venue in the county, hosting major live music acts, well-known comedians, and award-winning club nights.
Lincoln Arts Centre
Lincoln Arts Centre is the University’s public arts venue, showcasing theatre, dance,
exhibitions, and events from emerging and established artists.
Barbican Creative Hub
The Barbican Creative Hub supports Greater Lincolnshire’s creative industries, offering
studio space, coworking, and programmes to help creatives develop and grow.
