Monumental Moments Events for 2026
Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites annual theme for 2026 is
Monumental Moments: America’s 250th
.
In recognition of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites will offer programs celebrating monumental moments in Georgia’s history.
Expanding beyond historic events, we also are dedicating the year to recognizing that monumental moments take place every day at our state parks. Parks will be offering programs that celebrate monumental moments in outdoor recreation history: the first time you caught a fish, the first time Junior Ranger, the first night you spent outside.
July 4th Celebrations:
Every state park and historic site will be open and celebrating the historic anniversary July 4th, 2026. Plan your camping trip to enjoy traditional American fun such as:
Watermelon Seed Spitting Contests
Three-legged relay races
Sack Races
Cornhole competitions
Traditional folk toys
Readings of the Declaration of Independence
And much more!
Programs and Events will take place all year long. Some special events to celebrate the 250th include:
Elijah Clark Days
Georgia’s First Fourth at Wormsloe
Echoes on the Altamaha at Fort King George
Come and Take It! at Fort Morris
