Catholic Ethos
Time for study, work, recreation and reflection are necessary for the well-being of an individual or community. Life needs balance and we believe that prayer provides this balance and enhances quality of life.
St Joseph’s College promotes a Catholic Ethos in all areas but we also have a vibrant Religious Education Department which both educates the mind and develops the spirit. Throughout the school year there are many events which are designed to enhance our student and staff spirituality. A sample of these include:
Masses throughout the school year- from our welcoming Mass at the beginning of the year through to the leavers’ Mass in May.
A very enthusiastic and involved School Chaplain who not only celebrates our individual class sacrament of Reconciliation and leads themed Whole School Assemblies, but is intrinsically involved in the teaching and learning which takes place within the RE department.
Retreats- both for our own pupils and for local primary schools’ confirmation preparation.
Our annual evening of Reflection and Carols with the College Choir.
