Title IX
Creating a safe campus environment.
Title IX of the Education Amendments
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits sex discrimination in education. New regulations went into effect on August 14, 2020, addressing how schools must respond to reports of “sexual harassment,” as defined within the regulations. In addition, there are other federal and state laws that address reporting obligations and how institutions respond to reports of sexual misconduct.
REPORTING
to file a report.
For more information on filing reports, see below:
Reports of an incident(s) against a UTA student, visitor, staff or faculty member for gender discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual assault, stalking, dating violence, or domestic violence should be made to the Title IX Coordinator or a Deputy Coordinator. Reports can be made by using the online reporting form (preferred), by phone, by email or in person. Alleged victims of sexual assault should also consider contacting the UTA Police at policedepartment@uta.edu or the police department where the incident occurred.
If you are in immediate crisis, or for an emergency, call 911.
Anyone can report an incident(s) of sexual misconduct, including those outside the UTA community. However, only an alleged victim or the Title IX Coordinator may file a Formal Complaint. Filing a Formal Complaint will initiate the Grievance Process related to the allegations that have been reported.
All employees, including student employees (except confidential employees) are “responsible employees” meaning they are mandatory reporters. Responsible employees include student employees. All responsible employees must report promptly to the Title IX Coordinator or a Deputy Coordinator all known information concerning an alleged incident of sexual misconduct.
