Preschool (N-EK)
A Warm and Nurturing Start
Full-time teachers will guide your child in building independence, social skills, and readiness for Kindergarten, all through play and developmentally-appropriate academics like counting and storytelling. Children are stretched by specialist teachers in music, art, movement, and library, enriching each week, laying a well-rounded foundation for lifelong learning.
At Berkeley Hall, preschool is where your child’s curiosity takes root, friendships begin, and the joy of discovery comes to life.
We’d love to meet with you and show you what makes the early years at Berkeley Hall so special.
I cannot say enough positive things about Berkeley Hall School! From the moment my son stepped onto the campus, he has been filled with joy and a sense of safety that's truly priceless.

A Play-Based Foundation
At Berkeley Hall, our Nursery and Early Kindergarten classrooms are warm, joyful spaces where children take their first steps into learning. With full-time teachers in every room, students explore through stories, games, and hands-on play that creates confidence, curiosity, and independence.
Each day, parents stay connected through photos, videos, and daily interaction at drop-off and pick-up.
A Skill-Building Curriculum
Our early childhood program is built on a proprietary, research-based curriculum designed to support every stage of development. Children grow in phonics, early math, motor skills, language, and social-emotional learning - all within a monthly theme that responds to their interests.
Character education is embedded into each day, helping students build strong foundations for future learning.
Enrichment & Community
Specialist classes in music, movement, drama, science, cooking, and library spark creativity and wonder. Our expansive campus provides endless opportunities for outdoor play and discovery.
Social skills like empathy and cooperation are taught intentionally, and families are welcomed into the classroom through events, volunteer opportunities, and shared celebrations.

What is the teacher:student ratio in Nursery and Early Kindergarten?
How much time do students spend outdoors?
What specialist activities do preschool students participate in?
What are preschool hours?
How do you support the home to school transition at drop-off?

What are the birthdate requirements for Nursery and Kindergarten?
Each class maintains a low student-to-teacher ratio, with at least two full-time teachers per classroom and often a third for small group work. This allows for individualized attention and close relationships between teachers and students.
Nursery and EK students spend significant time outside every day. In addition to outdoor play on their dedicated playground, they are introduced to the library, pool, and other classroom spaces - separate from older students for safety and comfort.
Students enjoy a rich rotation of specialist classes, including music, art, drama, movement, cooking, science, engineering, Spanish, library, and character education. These classes nurture creativity, curiosity, and well-rounded development.
Our Nursery and Early Kindergarten programs run full days. Drop-off begins at 7:30 am and pick-up is at 3:15 pm. Extended Day Care (XDC) is available until 5:30 pm for preschool students at no additional fee.
Drop-off includes outdoor free play from 7:30 to 8:00 am to ease separation and provide a gentle transition into the day. Teachers greet each child personally and connect with families daily to ensure a smooth start.
Morning snacks are provided.
Families can choose to purchase or pack lunch. Our lunch provider,
Organic Kids LA
, offers fresh, nutritious, and kid-approved meals. The menu includes vegetarian, organic, kosher, and gluten-free options, with prices ranging from $9–$13 per meal. Families can easily order online.
Preschoolers wear comfortable, play-ready clothes. While there’s no formal uniform, we encourage easy-to-manage outfits that support independence during bathroom breaks and active outdoor play.

The teachers are kind and nurturing - the small class sizes allow the teachers to meet each child’s needs academically and socially. The curriculum is well-rounded and challenging, and most importantly, my son loves going to school.
