NATIONAL CADET CORPS (NCC)
Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat Campus, has been proudly hosting two wings of the National
Cadet Corps (NCC) since December 2021, the Army Wing with 72 cadets under NCC Unit 33 ACTR and the
Airforce Wing under Unit 51 Air Assam, both operating under Jorhat Group, NER Directorate.
Key Activities and Achievements
AAU cadets actively participate in prestigious NCC camps and training programs, showcasing their
dedication and excellence .
Their notable achievements include qualifying for the Republic Day Camp (RDC), with two cadets
reaching Pre RDC II in 2023, and strong representation in Combined Annual Training Camps (CATC),
with over 80 cadets attending across Assam (2022–24). Cadets have excelled nationally, with Cadet
Aakash Mundotiya representing AAU at the Special National Integration Camp (NIC) in Rajasthan, 2024,
and Cadet Nistha Borah participating in the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Camp (EBSB) in New Delhi,
2024. Participation in leadership-focused programs includes 12 cadets attending the Advance
Leadership Camp (ALC) in Rangia, 2022, and four in Barauni, Bihar, 2024. AAU cadets actively

Exchange Programme (YEP) Selection Camp II. Beyond these, AAU cadets actively participate in Army
and Vayu Sainik Camps, Rock Climbing Training Camps, and Overseas Deployment Camps, further
highlighting their versatility and commitment to the NCC mission. AAU also achieved significant
milestones in the All India ThalSainik Camp (TSC), with SUO Taranginee Borah attending in 2022, six
cadets in 2023, and two in 2024. Additionally, two cadets advanced to the Youth Exchange Programme
(YEP) Selection Camp II. Beyond these, AAU cadets actively participate in Army and Vayu Sainik
Camps, Rock Climbing Training Camps, and Overseas Deployment Camps, further highlighting their
versatility and commitment to the NCC mission.
AAU cadets have demonstrated exceptional performance and dedication in NCC activities. In the
2023–24 session, 46 cadets earned the NCC 'B' Certificate, and 14 achieved the prestigious 'C'
Certificate. Cadet Aakash Mundotiya showcased outstanding marksmanship by winning 1st prize in the
NCC NER Inter-Group Shooting Competition in May 2023. Additionally, Cadet Mrinal Mazumder was
recognized as the Best Cadet of Jorhat Group, NCC, and honored with a ₹4500 scholarship under the
Cadet Welfare Scheme, 2023, further exemplifying the excellence of AAU’s NCC contingent.
NCC (Air Wing) came into existence in the University on 18th of December, 2020. Since then, several
students from AAU, Jorhat campus had registered themselves. So far, more than 48 Cadets had received
NCC- C certificates. Apart from regional and national level camps including adventurous camps;
Cadets of Air wing are also engaged in different activities such as cleanliness drive, health run,
celebration of important events etc. In collaboration with NCC, Jorhat, the University had also
organised National Integration camp in the year 2023 where more than 800 Cadets across the country
participated.
In the greater interest of the University and to ensure smooth functioning of NCC in the University,
one of the Faculty member from the College of Agriculture had also been trained and undergone formal
trainings. Currently he is Associate NCC officer holding commissioned rank as Flying Officer.

NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS)
The primary objective of the NSS programme is to develop the personality and character of the
student youth through personality development, social awareness and voluntary community service.
Being an active member, these student volunteers would have the exposure and experience to become a
socially aware good citizen with high moral values. The NSS cell of Assam Agricultural University,
Jorhat is constituted with eight (8) nos. of NSS units viz. College of Agriculture, College of
Community Science, College of Sericulture, BN College of Agriculture, SCS college of Agriculture,
College of Fishery Science, College of Horticulture & FSR and Lakhimpur college of veterinary
science respectively. The NSS cell is headed by Director of Student’s Welfare cum NSS Programme
coordinator followed by NSS programme officers of respective college. The 1st year students of all
constituent college have to undergo NSS-111 credit course as per ICAR 6th Dean’s committee
guidelines. AAU NSS cell has developed a guidebook for students by following the 6th Deans committee
syllabus. The NSS volunteers have to undergo two (2) major activities namely regular and special
camping activities. Regular activities include orientation of NSS volunteers, campus work,
institutional work, National days and celebrations, involvement in Natural calamities & National
emergencies etc. and special camping includes seven (7) days camping activities in the NSS adopted
village. The cell also publishes bi-annual bulletin covering the activities of the NSS units .
The student volunteer will the get the opportunity to participate in different regional and national
level programmes like National Youth Festival, National Integration Camp, National Adventure
Programme, may take part in National Republic Day parade Contingent upon selection.
