Catholic schools work in partnership with staff, students, families and the wider community. We welcome feedback and seek to engage constructively when matters of concern arise.
Raising a Query or Concern
In the day-to-day activities of a school, queries, concerns or other matters requiring clarification or resolution will inevitably arise. In the first instance, please make contact with your child’s teacher and/or the school Principal. The school, in most circumstances, is in the best position to receive your feedback or to understand your concerns and work toward a resolution.
Occasionally, when matters are not able to be resolved, students and parents may seek to raise a complaint. Complaints should be raised in accordance with the school’s own process, and ultimately with the Principal.
Contacting the Catholic Education Office
If resolution at the school level cannot be achieved in a diocesan school, you may contact Catholic Education Office in the following ways:
By telephone: 08 8301 6600
By email to
intake@cesa.catholic.edu.au
via our
Contact page
By post to:
Intake Officer
Catholic Education Office
PO Box 179 TORRENSVILLE PLAZA SA 5031
Information to Include in Your Correspondence
Please provide sufficient detail including:
your name,
your daytime contact number,
your email address,
the school involved,
your child’s name,
any relevant information relating to your complaint, and
the resolution you are seeking.
On receipt of your correspondence we will endeavour to respond to your initial contact with us within three working days.
For most matters, a complaint will be referred to the school Principal to address in the first instance. A Senior Consultant from the Catholic Education Office will be made aware of the complaint and may support the school to determine the most appropriate course of action to respond to the matter.
Separately Governed Schools
For separately governed schools, we will usually refer the matter back to the school or advise how to contact the school’s governing authority as appropriate.
Further Information
For further details on how complaints are managed please see the
Complaint Response and Resolution Procedure
.
Please note:
neither the South Australian Minister for Education nor the South Australian Department for Education has any authority to directly intervene in any complaints relating to the operations of Catholic schools.
