Locksbrook Campus
Our state-of-the-art Locksbrook Campus is a truly inspirational place for creativity to flourish.
Located next to the River Avon in Bath city centre, Locksbrook is an open-plan building with
technical workshops
surrounded by flexible studio spaces, as well as spacious social areas.
It's a few minutes' walk from Bath Spa student accommodation on Lower Bristol Road, which is reached via a pedestrian bridge across the river. The riverside cycle path connecting our Newton Park campus to Bath’s railway and bus stations also borders the site, making it easily accessible from further afield.
Locksbrook has received both a
RIBA South West Award
and
RIBA National Award
, recognising and celebrating this inspirational space, in which our students and staff come together to design, make, do, create and learn.
The campus also hosts our
Degree Shows
– an annual showcase of the extraordinary achievements of our graduating Art and Design students, and one of the most anticipated events in the BSU calendar.

An iconic building in Bath
Originally designed by Sir Nicholas Grimshaw in 1976, Bath Spa University has spent the last few years revitalising this Grade II listed building, and creating a new history for this iconic building. Grimshaw Architects have worked closely with Bath Spa University to transform the building into an extraordinary facility for artists and designers to flourish.
Facilities
The new building is open-plan, with large, adaptable spaces. It has a permanent gallery for the display of artwork, as well as a café. There are large, open social areas with open-access computer facilities, presentation spaces, a rooftop pavilion for reflection and project work, plus an art shop that will promote student and graduate work.
Accommodation
Locksbrook Campus has a range of accommodation options - there’s Twerton Mill, Charlton Court and Waterside Court on Lower Bristol Road, as well as accommodation in Bath city centre.
Travelling to Locksbrook
Car parking spaces at
Locksbrook Campus
are limited and are for staff use only. We encourage staff to use public transport wherever possible and not to park on the streets surrounding the building.
Students are directed to park at the Bath Spa University Sports Ground car park on Lower Bristol Road. Students at Locksbrook will need to apply for a Stothert and Pitt Parking Permit through the
apphub
. There are two options:
a lump sum permit which is a one-off payment of £120 per year, or
a validation permit which is an initial payment of £10 followed by a £1 payment per day, paid via the JustPark app. This permit entitles drivers to park at either Newton Park or the sports ground/Stothert and Pitt car park.
When parking at the sports ground, students will be able to catch the U5 bus to Locksbrook Campus free of charge. To access the free of charge service, please contact
transport@bathspa.ac.uk
once you've paid for your permit. You'll then be given a unique access code to use on the mTicket app. The free code will only work on the service between the sports ground/Stothert and Pitt car park and Locksbrook Campus, and return journeys.
During
Open Days
and
Offer Holder Days
, all parking on campus is reserved for Blue Badge holders. Parking information for the event can be found in your pre-event emails.
