Study Abroad Programs
Students interested in travel and study opportunities can choose amongst faculty-leg programs, exchange programs, or non-accredited programs

Reciprocal Exchange Programs
Students participating on
Reciprocal Exchange Programs
earn UTA resident credit, and grades are recorded as regular letter grades. Students pay tuition to UTA, while housing and other related costs are paid directly to the host institution abroad.
Reciprocal programs are UTA financial aid eligible.
Students are registered in a study abroad course labeled EXCH, and the course number will reflect the level of the course and number of credit hours approved by the advisor on the Course Approval Form (Example: EXCH 1491.001). Students are charged regular UTA tuition for EXCH courses.
This semester-long, fully credited program offers a pre-established travel study experience with a university for the Spring semester of the third year of study for undergraduates or the spring semester second year of study for graduate students. Students previously conducted an exchange program at the following architecture schools:

: Currently M.ARCH (2nd year of study for M.ARCH Path-A students)
Faculty-Led Programs
Students participating on a
UTA Faculty-led program
earn UTA resident credit, and grades are recorded as regular letter grades. Students pay tuition directly to UTA, while housing and other related costs are paid according to the department's procedures.
Faculty-led programs are financial aid eligible.
Students are registered in the UTA departmental course(s) associated with the program through the student's MyMav account (Example: SPAN 2391.001), which charged regular UTA tuition for the UTA courses.
These programs are directed and led by UTA Architecture faculty and in the past have traveled to locations such as
Tokyo, Austria, Italy, Guatemala, Rome, Paris, Barcelona, and Vancouver
. Students interested in this option are recommended to attend the summer interest meetings held in the Spring semester within the School of Architecture or contact the leading faculty member directly. Students must in the third year of study in SOA programs for undergraduates or one of the CAPPA graduate programs to participate.

UTA Affiliated Programs
Students participating on an
Affiliated Program
earn UTA resident credit, and grades are recorded in pass/fail format.
Students do not pay tuition to UTA
; program tuition, housing, and other related costs are paid directly to the Affiliated program provider.
Affiliated programs are UTA financial aid eligible
. Students are registered in a study abroad course labeled ASA, and the course number will reflect the level of the course and number of credit hours approved by the advisor on the Course Approval Form (Example: ASA 1491.001). Students are not charged UTA tuition for ASA courses.
UTA is currently affiliated with ten program providers that offer study abroad, internship, and volunteer programs in over 55 countries with summer, semester, and academic year options.
Non-Accredited Programs
Students who participate on a program that is not affiliated with UTA will earn transfer credit and not UTA resident credit. Students should be aware that they
cannot utilize their UTA financial aid.
Students who are considering non-UTA programs are strongly encouraged to contact the
UTA Study Abroad Office
regarding their study abroad plans.
There are several University-level programs that may not provide credit for curriculum within the major. Students interested in this option are encouraged to contact the
Office of International Education/Study Abroad
for program options and locations. Upon program verification and selection a follow-up meeting should be made with advising department at
arch.advising@uta.edu

2. Meet International Studies Coordinator

, Assistant Professor of Architecture, is the International Studies Coordinator.
Email the International Studies Coordinator
to discuss an interested program.
3. Fill out Course Approval Form
Provide the
advising office
with a filled out
Course Approval form
showing class(es) interest for possible approval and signature.
Be sure to provide information on class(es) of interest, so that Advisor can determine applicability.
Advisor will finalize, sign off on, and return form to you.
4. Fill out IOC Travel Request Form
Follow-up with
International Studies Coordinator, Oswald Jenewein
, to email filled out
IOC Travel Request form
. The Coordinator will get the Director's signature and return the form to you.
5. Return Forms
Return both the Course Approval form and the IOC Travel Request form to the
Study Abroad staff
