We need you!
You can make a huge difference and we quite simply couldn’t survive without your support.
Without people like you playing our lottery, getting stuck into our challenges, and hosting your own fundraising events, we simply could not continue to provide support and care to people and their families when they need us most.
We can’t wait to hear about your fundraising activities and plans. Do get in touch to share them with us, so that we can support you in reaching your goals.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need permission or a licence for my event?
Generally speaking you do not need this. However, there are times where you will.
Collecting money or sponsorship in public places, on public streets or by going house to house.
These collections require a licence from the local authority
Collections on private property
, such as in a shopping centre. You’ll need the permission of the owners beforehand
If you’re
holding an event in a public place and it includes music, singing or dancing,
you may need a public entertainments licence, if your venue doesn’t already have one
If you plan to sell alcohol or offer it as a prize
, you’ll need a liquor licence. Check to see if your venue already has this licence before applying for it
If you are under 16 and fundraising for Keech Hospice, you’ll need a parent or guardian to complete and sign a consent form
What other legalities should I be aware of?
Please state clearly in all publicity or promotional materials that ‘All proceeds will be donated to Keech Hospice. Registered Charity No. 1035089
Please always state that your event is ‘In aid of Keech Hospice’
Children under 16 must not be left with overall responsibility for handling money or for counting collected money. Also, under-16s are not generally allowed to carry out house-to-house or street collections
What if I have collected sponsorship money but I can’t take part in the activity or I have to cancel the event?
You must contact your sponsors. Some people may be happy to still donate the money, but you must give them the option
For further guidance, please contact our fundraising team on 01582 492339 or email us at
letmehelp@keech.org.uk
How do I make sure my event is safe?
You must make sure no-one is fundraising in an unsafe environment. Check your venue is safe and minimise any potential risks. Don’t forget about crowd control
Check you have the right insurance cover, as Keech Hospice cannot accept any liability for your event. For further advice, talk to the owners of the venue, an insurance broker or contact our
fundraising team
anytime (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm)
Consider first-aid requirements for your event. Your local branch of St John Ambulance or Red Cross can offer advice and assistance
Only collect sponsorship or donations from people you know and trust. Ensure children do not collect money or sponsorship without adult supervision
Be extra careful if you’re carrying money around. Make sure you’re always accompanied and pay money into Keech Hospice as soon as possible
What are the rules if I am having a raffle?
Raffles are a great way to fundraise!
You can add a raffle to lots of fundraising events to boost donations. Be sure that you’re keeping it legal, though – there are rules and guidelines to follow when holding a raffle or lottery at a fundraising event
Check out the
Gambling Commission’s advice
to make sure you’re keeping in line with the rules
When planning my event what key things do I need to think about to ensure success?
Timing
– Before fixing a date, check it doesn’t clash with something like the World Cup Final or another Keech Hospice organised event
Supporters
– Who can you get involved? It’s great to fundraise with your friends, family and work colleagues. Maybe your local pub, school, faith group or community group would be willing to help, too
Cost
– Think about what you might end up spending. Do you need to hire a venue, print posters or tickets, or purchase any licences and insurance policies? If so, will your ticket price or suggested donation cover these? Set a budget and try to borrow items rather than buy everything
Contingencies
– If something was to go wrong, what could you do? You may need a back-up plan in the event of bad weather, parking problems or equipment failures
