Halifax Historical Museum
Nestled in Daytona Beach’s 1910 Merchants Bank building, the Halifax Historical Museum is a local treasure with deep roots. Opened on September 21, 1911, the building is a standout example of Beaux Arts architecture and is proudly listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Over the decades, it has seen expansions, weathered economic shifts, and welcomed generations of visitors. From its early banking days to its transformation into a cultural hub, the building’s story is inseparable from the history it now helps preserve.

This exhibit explores the commercial history of Daytona Beach through displays about landmark businesses like Dunn Hardware, Ivy Department Store, Angell & Phelps Candy Store and more. Accompanied by an illustrated historic district map signage and a memory card wall for public submissions.

Southern Rock & The Sound of Daytona (July-September 2026)
This exhibit captures the soundtrack of Daytona Beach, focusing on the legacy of the Allman Brothers, the influence of the Peabody Auditorium and the Bandshell, and the rise of Rockville. A concert-style listening lounge, playlist cards and exhibit signage will enrich the visitor experience.

From fire and wind to water and resilience, Disasters of Daytona Beach explores the dramatic events that have shaped life along the shores of Daytona Beach. This rotating exhibit brings together rare photographs, firsthand accounts, and historical artifacts to examine how catastrophe has repeatedly tested—and ultimately strengthened—the community.
