Military and Veteran Tuition Rate
To support those who have dedicated themselves to serving in the U.S. armed forces, we are proud to offer a special tuition rate for approved members of the military and their family members. Eligible individuals who are enrolled in any of our certificate or degree programs could qualify for a 15% tuition rate reduction.

Eligibility Requirements
As an active-duty service member or veteran, you have a variety of financial resources available to help pay for your education. You may have earned educational benefits for yourself and dependents. Contact the Department of Veterans Affairs to obtain your Certificate of Eligibility and determine what educational benefits you may be eligible for.
If eligible, you should apply for benefits under the Post-9/11 GI Bill
with the Department of Veteran Affairs online. If you have previously used VA Educational Benefits at another school, you must complete Form 1995 online. Next, forward a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility to the Office of the Registrar at

Yellow Ribbon Program
As a proud participant in the Yellow Ribbon Program, Saybrook offers up to $6,000 annually in tuition assistance ($3,000 from Saybrook and $3,000 from the Department of Veteran Affairs) to eligible veterans. This supplement to the Post-9/11 GI Bill
covers out-of-state tuition and fees. Saybrook currently provides these funds to an unlimited number of qualified students.

Individuals entitled to the maximum benefit rate (based on service requirements) may receive this funding. You may be eligible if you:
Have served an aggregate period of active duty after September 10, 2001, of at least 36 months
Were honorably discharged from active duty for a service connected disability and served 30 continuous days after September 10, 2001
Are a dependent eligible for Transfer of Entitlement under the Post – 9/11 GI Bill
based on a veteran’s service under the eligibility criteria listed above
There is no minimum number of credit hours required for participation and awards will continue in subsequent years in which the student maintains satisfactory progress, conduct and attendance.

Yes, you may withdraw from Saybrook University’s online graduate degree program if you are deployed. Simply provide us with a copy of your travel orders or, if you are deployed at a moment’s notice, have a point of contact within your unit verify your deployment status.
Do I have to be in an online class at a particular time?
Online learning fueled by community and connection defines the Saybrook experience. While most of your coursework will be completed asynchronously on your own time, you may be required to attend certain synchronous elements or in-person residencies, known as University Learning Experiences, depending on your program of study.

Do I qualify for federal financial aid while receiving tuition assistance or veterans’ benefits?

Do you accept Joint Services Transcripts (JST) or Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) transfer credits?
Yes, we accept both the JST and CCAF transcripts for prospective veteran or military students looking to earn their online graduate degree from Saybrook University.
How do I use my Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) benefits for my degree?
Eligible veterans and service members who wish to use VR&E benefits must complete the Certification Request for Veterans Affairs (VA) Educational Benefits each semester. A certifying official reviews and verifies course schedules, required materials (books, etc.), and tuition costs before awarding or denying veteran benefits. Learn more about VR&E benefits on the
