University of Antelope Valley Skip to content 661-673-0146 4/28/2025 - Updates For nearly 30 years, the University of Antelope Valley has been honored to be an active member of the community.  As we continue to work towards closing this chapter, we extend our deepest gratitude to the community we have served and to the thousands of  students who have been a part of our institution's legacy. Although the university has gone through a forced closure, there are still limited staff available to provide you with information and documentation. Official transcript requests can be made through the National Student Clearinghouse , and all other requests for education verification and unofficial documents can be made via email at registrar@uav.edu or by calling (661) 673-0146. There has been a bit of bright news since the closure. 106 students were able to successfully complete their programs before the final closure date and another 16 students were able to transfer and graduate from The Chicago School of Psychology (CSP). CSP graciously stepped in to take on our students and help them complete their degree programs without interruption. If you were close to completing and want to discuss the opportunity of completing your degree with CSP, please reach out to Miguel Valenzuela at mvalenzuela@thechicagoschool.edu for further information. In addition, we have helped another 69 students transfer to other institutions to continue their academic goals. This included not only transcript requests but also providing syllabi to aid in credit acceptance. If you have already transferred and need any assistance with transcripts or copies of syllabi you can also reach out via email at registrar@uav.edu If you were unable to complete your educational program at UAV or transfer your credits and made any cash payments, you may be entitled to compensation in accordance with the provisions set forth by the STRF regulations under California Education Code §94923. If you believe you are entitled to compensation, you may file a claim via email with the subject line STRF Claim – University of Antelope Valley via email at registrar@uav.edu Lastly, as a result of this closure, you may be eligible for a discharge of your federal student loans.  Information about closed school loan discharges can be found here: To apply for a closed school loan discharge, you must complete the Closed School Loan Discharge Application sent to you by your loan servicer , or complete the Closed School Loan Discharge Application online and return it to your loan servicer .  Contact your loan servicer for more information before you complete the application.  To find out who your loan servicer is, log in to your account at StudentAid.gov or call 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243).  A list of federal loan servicers is also available at: 3/12/2024 – Update for Students and Actions Over the last several weeks our staff has been pursuing a plan for our students to transfer to other institutions, together with a plan for a limited on-campus teach out for students scheduled to graduate this term. Unfortunately, we are not able to proceed with the limited on-campus teach out plan and as a result, all term 2 classes of the current semester are cancelled and we are focused on ensuring all of our students have a path forward to complete their studies via transfer or other options open to you. We understand that this will have a tremendous impact on all of our staff and students. The university is now officially closed, and our academic and student services department are reaching out directly to each student in the coming days to discuss your options. Update as of 3/6/2024 The University of Antelope Valley will be closing. As we continue to navigate our options to provide the best possible outcomes for our students and campus community, we will continue to make updates to this page including information regarding transfer and completion options, as well as school closure resources available from the United States Department of Education, the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC, our accrediting agency), and the California Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education. Here are some important dates: March 3, 2024 – This was the last day of instruction for the first term of spring semester 2024 for some courses. Students enrolled in those courses should see their grades posted by 3/9/2024.  Be advised if late work was turned in that may delay grade posting. March 4, 2024 – The University of Antelope Valley appeared before a panel convened by our accrediting agency, WSCUC, to propose a closure plan which asks that our accreditation status be maintained as it currently stands for a defined period of time to allow UAV to finalize articulation agreements for students wishing to transfer to other institutions, assist students with those transfers, and potentially, pending a decision by the California Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education, a limited teach-out of students currently within their final weeks of instruction before graduation in our degree programs as well as limited certificate students also within that same time frame of graduation. March 6, 2024 -  The University of Antelope Valley will appear before the Director of the California Department of Consumer Affairs, or her designee, with regards to the Emergency Decision with the goal of being able to offer the limited teach-out and orderly closure described above. March 8, 2024 – Is the current date set in the Emergency Decision on which all instructional operations must stop. However, the order will not take effect until after a written decision is issued after the March 6 th hearing. March 11, 2024 – The current plan is to provide select online courses to degree-seeking students who are in their final term of degree completion as part of a teach-out plan Information Regarding Transcripts and Transfers Unofficial transcripts can be printed directly from your Student Portal or send an email to registrar@uav.edu (please include the last four digits of your SSN with your request and allow approximately 5 business days for processing). If you are in repayment, be sure to continue to make payments on your loan while your discharge application is being processed. If you do not meet the criteria for a loan discharge, you will be informed by your loan servicer and will need to continue making payments on your loans based on the terms of your promissory note.
