DESPP keeps you and your family safe
The Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) is committed to protect and improve the quality of life for all Connecticut residents. DESPP oversees six divisions.

Statewide Emergency Telecommunications (DSET)
Combined, they provide a broad range of public safety services, including training, regulatory guidance, scientific services, law enforcement, and prevention and education.

As the commissioner of DESPP, Ronnell Higgins leads the agency of public servants who protect and improve the quality of life for all CT residents.
Commissioner Higgins brings a passion for inclusive and collaborative leadership. His primary goal is to ensure every voice is heard, and the citizens of Connecticut have access to necessary public safety resources.
