Uniforms
The Holton-Arms' uniform represents our dedication to equity, scholarship, and school spirit. Holton students love their plaid.
Parents are expected to support and enforce the uniform. All clothing must be clean, neat, and in good repair, and must fit appropriately. The Holton uniform makes getting out the door in the morning so much easier!

Gently-used uniforms - The Hang-Up
The Hang-Up is Holton's gently-used uniform boutique. The Hang-Up is brought to you by the Holton-Arms Alumnae Association, whose mission and focus is to provide continued value to the Holton experience. Students and families may purchase uniform jumpers, skirts, polos, turtlenecks, gym uniforms, sweatshirts, fleeces, and sweaters at a significant discount.
Students may visit the Advancement Center during the school day. The Hang-Up will continue to be open Monday-Friday for students.

, to schedule an appointment.
In the event that Joleen Hyde is not available for check-out, please fill out the Hang-Up form at the front desk of the Advancement Center. All purchases will be charged to your student’s accounts. Please contact

Donations are always much appreciated and encouraged, but please make sure to wash your items before drop-off. We only accept clean Holton-branded merchandise that is in uniform. We are no longer accepting the old Holton logo; all donated items must have the new Holton logo.
All clothing must be clean, neat, hemmed, in good repair, and fit appropriately.
Jumper hems should not be shorter than fingertips.
All clothing should be labeled with the student’s name.
SHIRTS:
White or navy short or long-sleeved logo polo shirt, white turtleneck (shirt tails tucked in)
JUMPERS/SKIRTS
: Holton plaid jumper (hems should not be shorter than fingertips)
PANTS
: Navy slacks, corduroy, or twill
SKORTS/SHORTS
: Navy skort or navy Bermuda shorts. Navy bike or Holton gym shorts may be worn under their uniform only
SWEATPANTS
: (winter dress code, only worn between Thanksgiving Break and Spring Break): Plain navy blue sweatpants or navy blue sweatpants with the Holton logo may be worn under the uniform
SWEATSHIRT/SWEATER/JACKETS:
Holton logo sweatshirt -Navy, white, or gray, Holton fleece jacket, Navy cardigan sweater
SOCKS
: Navy or white socks (no decoration/Holton logo allowed) Navy or white tights Navy, white, black, or gray ankle length dance leggings (no lace trim) Socks must be visible above the ankle
SHOES
: Students are required to wear athletic sneakers to school on a daily basis. These athletic sneakers must follow the color guidelines below and have a nonmarking sole and laces that tie securely. Please note that it is very important to have full stability and arch support, and therefore fashion sneakers will not be permitted (including converse and vans). Athletic Shoe Guidelines: Lower School students must wear athletic sneakers that are all black, white or navy. Any details or highlights (including laces) can be black, white, navy, or gray.
JEWELRY/ACCESSORIES
: Limited to stud earrings or huggie earrings (that hug your ear with no space) and simple wristwatch (
no smartwatches or Apple Watches allowed
). No rings, necklaces, bracelets, or anklets permitted. Simple hair accessories in uniform colors (blue, white, grey, plaid). Students may wear one hair tie or scrunchie on their wrist (in uniform color). No nail polish or hair dye/hair tinsel/highlights permitted.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
: Grades 3-6 Holton P.E. uniform
Shirt: Uniform white or navy polo shirt Holton or plain
Shorts: Holton or plain navy athletic shorts
Sweatshirt: Navy, white, or gray Holton sweatshirt for cold weather
Sweatpants: Navy Holton or plain sweatpants for cold weather activities
Students are asked to keep an extra pair of socks, uniform shirt, and shorts/leggings at school in case a change of clothes is needed. See Athletic Shoe Guidelines above.
FRIDAY SPECIAL DRESS:
On Friday’s, students are allowed to wear socks of their choosing and up to 3 bracelets
FREE DRESS DAYS:
All attire must meet the following rules:
No attire that promotes a political party, political candidates, or a political issue
No attire that promotes alcohol, drugs, or is sexually explicit
Any daytime wear appropriate for school. Clothing must cover a student's front, back, and sides. Crop tops are not acceptable. Pants should not have rips or cuts. A small fray at the bottom of the pants is fine
No jewelry, nail polish, hair dye, or tinsel
Shoe must be closed-toe and with a back (no flip flops or sandals)
Students must wear uniform shoes if PE falls on a free dress day
*Please note that Middle and Upper School uniform requirements differ from those of Lower School. Not all items sold in the school store are in the Lower School uniform code.
Logo always refers to the Holton logo. All clothing must be clean, neat, hemmed, in good repair, and must fit appropriately. All personal items should be labeled with the student’s name (clothing, water bottles, backpacks, etc.). Dress for field trips is at the teacher’s discretion.

SWEATPANTS
: NO sweatpants may be worn under the uniform

: Navy, white, or gray Holton sweatshirt with logo, Navy cardigan sweater, Holton fleece jacket
Sweatshirt length must be above skirt length (not the same length)

: No sock rules

: No high heels or slippers

: No hats or blankets

SHORTS
: Navy bike or gym shorts (worn under skirt only). NO sweatpants, team pants, or long underwear.
SWEATERS/JACKETS/SWEATSHIRTS/BLAZER
: Solid white, gray, or navy sweatshirt, with or without Holton logo and NO other words or writing. Solid navy or white sweater. Holton jacket. Navy blazer with Holton crest.
TEAM JACKETS
: Officially approved and sanctioned Holton team jackets only, Holton-Arms warm-up suit
Team jackets must be approved by the Director of Athletics and the Upper School Director or the Dean of Students before they can be worn in the school building as part of the uniform.
SOCKS/TIGHTS/LEGGINGS
: Solid navy or white socks. Solid navy, gray, or black tights. Solid navy, gray, or black ankle-length tights or leggings (worn under skirt and free of mesh and logos). No yoga pants or flared pants.
Sweatpants are NOT allowed as part of the School uniform.
SHOES
: Heels less than 2" only; sneakers highly encouraged. No Crocs, flip-flops, or slippers.
JEWELRY/ACCESSORIES
: No requirement
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
: Clothing and shoes appropriate to the activity.
DRESS FOR FRIDAYS/FREE DRESS DAYS
: Out of uniform. No attire that promotes a political party, political candidates, or a political issue. No attire that promotes alcohol, drugs, or is sexually explicit. Any daytime wear appropriate for school. Appropriate attire that does not show any midriff or innerwear (such as bras or sports bras)

: Clothing and shoes appropriate to the activity.
