Over February break, Bellarmine’s Club Horizons traveled throughout Southern California, visiting a range of colleges and universities as part of an immersive college exploration experience. The group toured campuses including University of Southern California, Loyola Marymount University, Chapman University, Whittier College, Claremont McKenna College, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California State University, Fullerton, University of California, Riverside, and University of California, Santa Barbara.
In addition to campus visits, students attended Ash Wednesday Mass and concluded the trip with time together at Downtown Disney District before returning home.
Led by Bellarmine’s College Counseling department, the Club Horizons program supports first-generation college-bound students as they navigate the path to higher education. The trip provided valuable exposure to a variety of college environments while helping students envision their futures beyond high school.
The experience was further enriched by the support of Bellarmine alumni. Peter Zen ’73 hosted students at his hotels and provided a special dinner, while alumni Dino Barajas ’86, Steve Avila ’91, Tomás Duran ’92, and Ernesto Colín ’95 met with the group to share their perspectives and experiences as Latino graduates.
Bellarmine extends its gratitude to the alumni and staff who helped make the trip a meaningful step in each student’s college journey.
