Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology, Gazipur (abbreviated as DUET) is a pioneer in engineering education in Bangladesh especially for the diploma engineers. DUET was founded as the College of Engineering, Dhaka in 1980. It was then renamed as Dhaka Engineering College (DEC) under the University of Dhaka in 1981, and used to offer Bachelor of Engineering programs in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical disciplines. Dhaka Engineering College was empowered autonomy under the Bangladesh Institute of Technology ordinance no. XXI of 1986, under the name Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Dhaka (Abbreviated as BITD) to award undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Dhaka became an autonomous statutory organization of Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh under the Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology, Gazipur Act 2003 in 01 September 2003.
DUET is about is about twenty kilometers away from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka. DUET is unique in its scope and mission to foster engineering education in Bangladesh as it offers B.Sc. Engineering/B. Arch. degree only to the eligible diploma engineers from around the country. The M.Sc./M.Eng. and Ph.D. programs are also open for all eligible candidates who are capable of pursuing scholarly endeavors with a view to engaging in lifelong learning and thereby accelerating the education, research, innovation, publication and developments in the fields of engineering and technology. One of the leading educational and research institutes in Bangladesh, DUET plays a pivotal role in the respective domestic and global premises. At this juncture of the changes and the innovation going on all around the globe, DUET is always ready to take its lead and contribute to achieve the sustainable goals.
DUET offers high-quality research and education through its 14 departments under four faculties which are civil engineering, architecture, electrical and electronic engineering, computer science and engineering, mechanical engineering, Textile Engineering, industrial and production Engineering, chemical engineering, materials and metallurgical engineering, food engineering, chemistry, mathematics, physics, humanity and social science. The institutes include energy engineering, information and communication technology, water and environment, center for climate change and sustainability recharge.
DUET has over 270 faculty members, over 160 officers, over 270 and over 3500 undergraduate and graduate students. Graduates from DUET have a long history of enjoying extraordinary success all over the world, with many notable alumni serving as the global leaders in their respective fields.

The university is one of the important component in Bangladesh to the reflection of the country’s national aspiration and dream. It is expected that this renowned academic institution will work towards producing the quality graduates who will dedicate themselves to make the country great by braving the challenges of the century. DUET is also known worldwide for its stellar learning performance. However, we have to aim to be not only the leading institution for knowledge-dispersion, but also world class leader in knowledge-creation. We have always had students and faculty members who are capable of doing world class research, as is evident by the placement of our alumni in various positions in renowned universities and industries of the world.
As the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of DUET, one of my missions will be to work with the university-team to transform it into one of the top-ranking universities of Bangladesh and enhance its international stature. We are committed to realizing the vision and mission set out by our government. As per the national strategic plan, DUET prioritizes rigorous study and cutting-edge research in matters of engineering and science. Our endeavor is focused on creating a congenial and comfortable zone for our promising young learners and install in them the values of engineering & scientific excellence, ethical perspective and orientations in applied science. With this aim in mind, we need to systematize the academic and administrative activities by building capacity of our current faculty and staff and recruiting promising researchers and administrative staff. It is my firm belief that by encouraging fellow-feelings, dynamism, fluidity and progressive thoughts we will be able to enhance the dignity and prestige of DUET and safeguard out best national interest in the modern world.

Welcome to Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology, Gazipur.
Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology, Gazipur (abbreviated as DUET) was founded as the College of Engineering, Dhaka with the motto “Technology is the Advancement” at its temporary campus at Tejgaon, Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1980. It was then renamed as Dhaka Engineering College (DEC) under the University of Dhaka in 1981, and used to offer Bachelor of Engineering programs in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical disciplines. With the passage of time, Dhaka Engineering College was empowered autonomy under the Bangladesh Institute of Technology ordinance no. XXI of 1986, under the name Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Dhaka (Abbreviated as BITD) to award undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Hence September 1, 2003 became a historic day when the institute became an autonomous statutory organization of Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh under the Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology, Gazipur Act 2003.
DUET is the university of choice for future engineers and architects in Bangladesh because of lively campus life. In 1983, the campus at Tejgaon, Dhaka was shifted to its permanent campus in the heart of Gazipur city (40 km north of Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh), with convenient access to the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Gazipur Railway Station, and Gazipur City Bus Terminals. The university’s physical expansion over the years has been significant, with new academic buildings, a number of student’s residential halls, a central library, a well equipped medical center, a student welfare center, and an auditorium complex, among other infrastructures. New educational expansions have thrived on DUET’s second nearby campus. Since 2020, the campus-wide IT infrastructure, the BdREN network, DUET e-learning platform, institutional email, DUET gateway and payroll etc. facilities have been created for the smooth online communications.
The University offers degrees in the fields of engineering, architecture in undergraduate and post-graduate levels and also conducts research and offers degrees in basic sciences at post-graduate level. The language of instruction at all levels is English, which is the official language for examinations. Students are admitted to DUET after passing a highly competitive entrance examination. DUET comprises of thirteen academic departments under four faculties. There are three academic institutes and a research center which offer postgraduate degree & research based and short term professional courses as well. The University has strong collaborations with prestigious universities and industries both home and abroad. The university maintains an Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) that assists all academic programs in gaining accreditation from various recognized accreditation bodies through continual improvement. Through undergraduate and graduate programs, DUET’s outcome-based education (OBE) curricula address the region’s current and future pragmatic needs. In addition, DUET journal which is an indexed journal by now publishes advance research articles in a regular manner.
The University is being an excellent tertiary and higher-level academic institution with its commitment to quality education and research has earned a worldwide excellent reputation for producing quality graduates in various fields of engineering and science to date. Recently, DUET is ranked # 501-550 in QS Asia University rankings 2022.

Welcome to Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology, Gazipur.
Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology, Gazipur (abbreviated as DUET) was founded as the College of Engineering, Dhaka with the motto “Technology is the Advancement” at its temporary campus at Tejgaon, Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1980. It was then renamed as Dhaka Engineering College (DEC) under the University of Dhaka in 1981, and used to offer Bachelor of Engineering programs in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical disciplines. With the passage of time, Dhaka Engineering College was empowered autonomy under the Bangladesh Institute of Technology ordinance no. XXI of 1986, under the name Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Dhaka (Abbreviated as BITD) to award undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Hence September 1, 2003 became a historic day when the institute became an autonomous statutory organization of Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh under the Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology, Gazipur Act 2003.
DUET is the university of choice for future engineers and architects in Bangladesh because of lively campus life. In 1983, the campus at Tejgaon, Dhaka was shifted to its permanent campus in the heart of Gazipur city (40 km north of Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh), with convenient access to the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Gazipur Railway Station, and Gazipur City Bus Terminals. The university’s physical expansion over the years has been significant, with new academic buildings, a number of student’s residential halls, a central library, a well equipped medical center, a student welfare center, and an auditorium complex, among other infrastructures. New educational expansions have thrived on DUET’s second nearby campus. Since 2020, the campus-wide IT infrastructure, the BdREN network, DUET e-learning platform, institutional email, DUET gateway and payroll etc. facilities have been created for the smooth online communications.
The University offers degrees in the fields of engineering, architecture in undergraduate and post-graduate levels and also conducts research and offers degrees in basic sciences at post-graduate level. The language of instruction at all levels is English, which is the official language for examinations. Students are admitted to DUET after passing a highly competitive entrance examination. DUET comprises of thirteen academic departments under four faculties. There are three academic institutes and a research center which offer postgraduate degree & research based and short term professional courses as well. The University has strong collaborations with prestigious universities and industries both home and abroad. The university maintains an Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) that assists all academic programs in gaining accreditation from various recognized accreditation bodies through continual improvement. Through undergraduate and graduate programs, DUET’s outcome-based education (OBE) curricula address the region’s current and future pragmatic needs. In addition, DUET journal which is an indexed journal by now publishes advance research articles in a regular manner.
The University is being an excellent tertiary and higher-level academic institution with its commitment to quality education and research has earned a worldwide excellent reputation for producing quality graduates in various fields of engineering and science to date. Recently, DUET is ranked # 501-550 in QS Asia University rankings 2022.

Republic of Bangladesh under the Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology, Gazipur Act 2003. It is located on a compact 23.42-acre land
in the Gazipur is only about twenty kilometers away from Shahjalal International Airport. DUET offers high-quality research and education
through 14 departments and 3 institutes under 4 faculties. DUET has over 287 faculty members, 179 officers,
and over 3849+ undergraduate
and graduate students. DUET has 12406+ Graduated students enjoying extraordinary success all over the world.
