General Programmes
The General Programmes at the Institute for Industrial Technology (IIT), Lagos, are short-term technical courses open to school leavers, graduates, and workers who want to gain practical, industry-relevant skills. Each course runs for about 12 weeks, using a 30% theory and 70% practical model to meet international training standards.
Aim
To provide hands-on technical skills that are immediately applicable in the workplace.
To create opportunities for employment, self-employment, and career progression across multiple industries.
To develop participants’ competence, confidence, and work ethics in line with global best practices.
Objectives
Deliver short, intensive training in high-demand technical fields.
Equip participants with the ability to install, repair, and maintain systems to professional standards.
Promote workplace discipline, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Offer flexible training open to all categories of learners – school leavers, graduates, and workers.
Build a pipeline of skilled technicians who can support Nigeria’s industrial growth.
Available programmes
Plumbing and Associated Works (including masonry, tiling, and painting)
Welding and Fabrication
Electrical Design, Wiring and Installation
Renewable Energy & UPS Installations
Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Practice
Power Engines Maintenance and Operations
The General Programmes at IIT Lagos are 12-week, hands-on courses that prepare learners from any background to become skilled, employable, and industry-ready technicians in construction, energy, design, and maintenance fields.
