Scholarships are a form of merit-based aid, meaning they are offered based on achievement in specific areas. York University offers scholarships in academics, athletics and performing arts. In addition to scholarships, YU encourages you to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to qualify for additional financial aid. FAFSA submission is required for some scholarships and is noted in the description. Awards range up to $6,500 per year for full-time undergraduate enrollment and are determined by ACT/SAT scores or financial and official cumulative GPA. Transfer students are awarded based on cumulative college GPA. A minimum GPA requirement must be met in order to renew these academic scholarships each year. The scholarship is offered in two tiers. The Presidential Award provides full tuition and is awarded to up to four students each year. Program Specific Scholarships Collegiate FBLA Boasting as one of Nebraska's largest chapters, York University's Collegiate FBLA chapter is dedicated to inspiring and developing the next generation of leaders by preparing students for careers in business and business-related fields. YU offers scholarships for incoming students who commit to participate in Collegiate FBLA leadership capacities and competitive events. For more information talk to your enrollment counselor Kristie Holoch Business Scholarship The scholarship will be awarded annually to a student majoring in business with a strong record of academic achievement and leadership ability. Apply Here Dr. Robert Lawrence Endowed Scholarship This scholarship was established to honor Dr. Robert Lawrence, who served York University from 1968 until his retirement in 1995, teaching both Bible and English. Scholarship awards are to be made to deserving students of York University with preference given in this order: First preference for students majoring in English. Second preference for student minoring in English or English education majors. Third preference for students majoring in the humanities or those who are recognized for outstanding achievement in their English studies regardless of major. Apply Here Mike Myers Bible Scholarship The scholarship is available to Bible majors to be given in memory of Mike Myers, long-time supporter of Christian education and a member of the YU Board of Trustees for thirteen years (2008-2020). The annual scholarship, in the amount of $7,500, is renewable each academic year. Learn More and Apply Here YU offers scholarships for incoming students who are pursuing careers in S.T.E.M.; biology, pre-engineering, psychology, science education, math, and math education. The scholarship is based on academic performance within the high school or junior college/ university science curriculum and an expressed commitment to the York University professional STEM Club and Science Department. Students eligible for this scholarship are not allowed to receive an athletic or fine arts scholarships, but would be eligible for academic scholarships, consistent with stacking policies. Students receiving this scholarship will be expected to meet specific requirements on a yearly basis. These requirements include: Maintaining a 3.5 GPA Serve as a judge for the York Community Science Fair and the Nebraska Junior High State Science Fair Participate in two industry events, as organized by the Science Club Participate in two educational science events Participate in all STEM Club activities, unless excused Serve a role within the STEM Club and Science Department, as identified prior to the first day of each semester Complete an internship in a related science field, prior to graduation For more information talk to your enrollment counselor Athletic Scholarships YU is a member of the NAIA Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference. Athletic scholarships vary in amount and are determined by the head coach of each sport. To inquire about availability, complete a prospect questionnaire for your sport of interest. A parent must be a ful-time employee, eligible for benefits, at a Christian elementary or secondary school. Verification must be provided annaully. This is stackable with other York University scholarships up to a combined total of $3000. A parent must work for a Christian college/university that has a reciprocal agreement with York University. Verification must be provided annually. This is stackable with other York University scholarships up to a combined total $6,000. A parent must be a full-time or part-time minster in the Church of Christ. Verification must be provided annually. This is stackable with other York University scholarships up to a combined total $7000. A parent must be a foreign misionaries supported by the Churches of Christ.Verification must be provided annually. This is stackable with other York University scholarships up to a combined total $6000. This scholarship opportunity is available to first-time students from the Churches of Christ and the Christian Church. The scholarship is a 50% off tuition scholarship for prospective students who meet specific criteria. The Founders Scholarship aims to support active members of the Church of Christ and Christian Church. $2,500 per year. Can be obtained in junior or senior year of high school. One award to be used per academic year. Subject to stacking policies. Award for first-time student applicants that graduate from a NCSA member school. This is stackable with other York University scholarships up to a combined total $4,300. Chosen by campus minister, student interns receive $2,500 a year. Subject to stacking policies. Performing Arts Scholarships The University Singers are the premier performing ensemble at York University. The choir is comprised of all grade levels and majors, and is highly recognized for their level of choral artistry. Members are required to meet a rigid rehearsal schedule and to maintain a minimum GPA. Each year they travel 3,000 – 4,000 miles representing York University. Complete An Audition Form York University offers numerous performance opportunities for students interested in theatre as a hobby or as a major . There are two mainstage productions each year, typically a comedy in the fall and a drama in the spring. Apply for a Theatre Scholarship Celebration Singers is a small ensemble that performs popular and seasonal music. It functions much like a swing choir, and gives members an opportunity to sing a style of music beyond the traditional choral repertoire. Auditions for Celebration Singers are held once at the beginning of the fall semester. The ensemble is open to all students. Nebraska Scholarships This scholarship opportunity is available to first-time students that are residents of York County, Nebraska. The scholarship is a 50% off tuition scholarship for prospective students who meet specific criteria. The Good Neighbor Scholarship aims to support residents of York County, Nebraska. Financial need as determined from the FAFSA and/or the York University Need-Based Aid. Application will be considered in awarding of these scholarships. For students who have participated in the TeamMates program as a student. This is stackable with other York University scholarships up to a combined total $6000. This Need Based Application gives you the opportunity to share more details about your circumstances so we can see if you may qualify for additional aid or a Professional Judgment (an adjustment to your FAFSA information).
