There are several low-cost housing opportunities for out-of-town patients who travel to the Portland-Vancouver area for medical treatment or to be close to family who are inpatients at Legacy hospitals.
Green Gables Guest House
— on the Legacy Good Samaritan campus, for cancer patients and their families
Ronald McDonald House-East
— Provides a "home away from home" for families and their seriously ill or injured children who travel far to receive treatment at Randall Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel.
Patient Lodging Program
— Operated by the American Cancer Society (1-800-227-2345). Provides short term housing, Monday through Thursday night. Guests must live 60 miles or more outside of the areas. Participating hotels/motels provide free or discounted rooms for cancer patients receiving treatment at Portland hospitals.
