United States Arctic Research Commission Welcomes Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy as Commissioner
The United States Arctic Research Commission (USARC) today welcomes President Trump’s appointment of Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy as a Commissioner.
Governor Dunleavy brings extensive experience working on issues affecting Alaska’s Arctic communities, including economic development, infrastructure, responsible resource development, and community resilience. As Governor of the nation’s only Arctic state, he has been closely engaged in many of the issues that shape U.S. Arctic priorities.

Alaska’s Moment Is Here: Let’s Finish the Pipeline
Conflict in the Middle East is sending shockwaves through global energy markets. And yet again, Alaskans are wondering why, with a huge amount of North Slope natural gas, we are going to increase our dependence on some of the world’s most unstable regions. The answer, in part, is that we have failed to develop our own energy resources— including vast natural gas reserves that could supply our households, fuel our industries and military bases, and reliably deliver energy to trusted allies abroad.

Bear Awareness Month 2026
WHEREAS, Alaska is blessed with an abundance of wildlife and the State’s healthy wildlife populations have a significant impact on the Alaskan way of life; and
WHEREAS, our State is notably home to all three species of North American bears, including approximately 100,000 black bears, 30,000 brown bears, and an estimated 4,000 – 7,000 polar bears.

FY 2027 Budget at a Glance
Governor Mike Dunleavy released the proposed Fiscal Year 2027 (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027) budget on December 11, 2025. The Department of Revenue forecasts that Alaska will receive $15.3 billion in total state revenue in FY 2027, with $6.2 billion of Unrestricted General Fund Revenue available for appropriation by the Legislature.
