Internships the Mount Holyoke way
At Mount Holyoke, we believe education is at its best when it connects directly to the real world. That’s what makes internships so powerful — they’re your laboratories for transforming theory into action and exploring career paths that you find meaningful. To ensure all Mount Holyoke students have the opportunity to learn beyond the classroom, we created the Lynk — a program that provides every sophomore and junior with internship funding and a toolkit of resources to help them get the most out of an internship experience. What connections will you make?

How it works
MHC Stories
Because everyone should have equal access to life-changing opportunities, all sophomore and junior students are welcome to apply for funding for qualified summer internships or research experiences. After you’ve completed your internship or research experience, you’ll present what you learned to the Mount Holyoke community as part of the LEAP Symposium, Senior Symposium or other qualified event. And to help you get the most out of your experience, you’ll also enroll in a course centered around reflecting on your internship (such as COLL 211, Reflecting Back, or a capstone course).

Lynk funding details and requirements
Mount Holyoke College provides funding of $4,000 for domestic internships and $4,600 for international internships to every eligible student who has both secured a qualified summer internship or research position and completed all components of the Lynk UAF application by the deadline.
Who can apply? Sophomores and juniors in good academic standing are eligible to apply, except when on medical leave in the spring semester. You may receive summer funding once during your four years at MHC, regardless of the funding source. External research grants are the one exception.
Qualify
Lynk-UAF funds support unpaid or low-paid summer internships or research projects. Support for low-paid internships or research projects is equal to the standard award minus all employer wages and/or stipends.
Opportunities must qualify as substantive and relevant learning opportunities.
Projects in countries or regions assigned a level three or four travel warning by the United States are not eligible. Note that you may apply for an exception to the travel warning policy through exception paperwork requested by contacting lynkuaf@mtholyoke.edu.
Projects supporting political parties/campaigns are not eligible.
Projects with an organization involved with the use, production, testing or distribution of recreational or medical marijuana are not eligible. Because the use of marijuana is illegal at the federal level and Mount Holyoke College receives federal funds, we must comply with federal law.
Cost of living and travel adjustments will be added for projects in certain locations.

Participate in a two-credit sustained reflection course such as COLL 211, a departmental capstone course or an independent study; and
Complete a presentation on your experience at the LEAP Symposium, Senior Symposium or other approved event.
