Buganda Kingdom hands over Health Center IV in Mityana

– The Kabaka’s 70th birthday celebration was marked with the commissioning of a new health facility in Singo County, Mityana District. The facility, named
Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II Health Centre IV
, stands as a significant step forward in improving healthcare access in the region.
A Health Centre IV is the equivalent of a mini-hospital and is equipped to handle a wide range of medical services. The new facility will be staffed by a senior medical officer and a doctor and will include a fully functional theatre for emergency surgeries. It will also feature separate inpatient wards for men, women, and children, providing the capacity to admit and care for patients around the clock.
This is one of three hospitals initiated by the Buganda Kingdom in its ongoing efforts to strengthen the healthcare system for its people. The management of this particular facility has been entrusted to
Mengo Hospital
, one of Uganda’s oldest and most respected medical institutions.
Currently in the final stages of construction, the facility has been built at a cost of
UGX 2.5 billion
. Once operational, it is expected to significantly improve the availability and quality of medical services in Singo County and surrounding areas, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances for care.
This project highlights the Kingdom’s commitment to social development, particularly in the areas of health and community wellbeing. It also demonstrates the power of collaboration between cultural institutions and trusted healthcare providers.
