Once you’ve chosen your programme or research area to study it’s time to apply.
Once you’ve chosen your programme or research area to study it’s time to apply.
Entry requirements vary depending on the course and are indicated on the course page of this prospectus and our website. Typically, an upper or lower second class honours degree in a related subject area is required. Some programmes may also require relevant experience.
All admissions tutors are more than happy to meet you and have an informal discussion about the programme and your interests before you apply. You can contact the Admissions Team on
admissions@chi.ac.uk

PhD and MPhil Research Degrees
Expand
Those wishing to pursue a research degree (MPhil/PhD) are advised to contact the Research Office at the University in the first instance at
PGRSupport@chi.ac.uk.
You can find more information on research courses and the pre-PhD research preparation programme on our
PhD and MPhil Degrees
page.
When to Apply
Ideally, you should apply before 1st July. Please be aware that course numbers are capped and some courses may be full before this date so applying earlier is advisable. Late applications should still be submitted in the same way, but the University reserves the right not to consider them for programmes that have sufficient applications.
PGCE
There is no recommended application date for PGCE programmes; however, once there are no vacancies left on a course it will be closed to new applications.
Post Graduate Diploma (PGDip) Nursing Courses
The courses cannot take new applications after the end of July (unless agreed by the programme lead). This allows for completion of the Recognition of Prior Learning Portfolio (submission for this is mid-October).
Before applying for either of the PGDip Nursing courses, you are strongly recommended to either attend a post-graduate open evening or a university open day to discuss your background and suitability to join the course. If you are unable to attend one of these events then please contact the relevant programme lead who can arrange a meeting (virtual or on-site).
Disclosure and Barring Service, Enhanced Disclosure and Occupational Health Checks
Expand
Successful applicants to courses which involve contact with children or vulnerable adults are required to obtain, at their own cost, a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Applicants for Professional and Statutory Body Regulated programmes such as Physiotherapy, Nursing or Teacher Training are also required to demonstrate ‘fitness to practise’ through an occupational health assessment.
The University reserves the right to refuse admission and/or terminate the registration of any applicant or student whose DBS and/or occupational health check proves to be unsatisfactory. Any applicant with a relevant caution or conviction is strongly advised to discuss this with the Admissions Office.
