The set contains some 270,000 volumes distributed along about 9,000 linear meters.

A bibliographic background with more than 270,000 volumes
1864 - Origin
The Bishop of Tortosa, Benet Vilamitjana, ceded a collection of some 3,000 books and premises to house it and the ‘Col·legi Màxim’ to The Society of Jesus. This collection was the seed of today’s library.

Heritage funds and collections
Within the old collection of the library there is a large number of works and unique editions of great importance, such as 532 manuscripts, 342 parchments, 42 files, 41 incunabula, 1,127 rare books and more than 20,000 documents from between the 16th and 18th centuries.
