Pre-Physician Assistant Studies
A Direct Path to Becoming a Physician Assistant
If you know you want to become a physician assistant, College of Saint Mary offers a clear pathway from undergraduate study to our
Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) program
. With built-in advising and progression benchmarks, you can go from high school graduate to practicing PA in just five years.
How It Works
Pre-PA students enroll in an undergraduate major such as
Biology
or
Psychology
. Each semester, they meet with a professional advisor to ensure they are on track with prerequisites, GPA, and progression requirements. By meeting benchmarks, students retain their place in the MSPAS program and move seamlessly from bachelor’s study into graduate-level training.
Why Choose CSM's Pre-PA Pathway
Direct Pathway – Transition from undergrad to the MSPAS program without reapplying through CASPA when you meet benchmarks.
Personalized Advising – Stay on track each semester with one-on-one advising.
Early Career Start – Begin practicing as a PA just five years after high school.
Supportive Community – Learn in a close-knit, mission-driven environment.

Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) program
In the final stage, students transition into graduate-level training, where they gain the skills and experience needed to succeed as physician assistants.
Through this 3+2 pathway, students can become licensed, practicing PAs in as little as five years after high school.
