Early Childhood Academics
Develop – Explore – Thrive
The Early Childhood program at Regis is designed for the development of the whole child—heart, mind, body and spirit. The learning environment is one that is secure, motivating and fun, where boys are encouraged to achieve their full potential.
At the Early Childhood level, Regis is a place that focuses on learning through discovery, with hands-on experience that fosters a love for learning.
Opportunities for emotional and social development through center-based, thematic units allow the boys to work both collaboratively with their peers and in small groups. Students are also given opportunities for self-directed learning, fostering independence and problem solving skills.
I have been incredibly impressed with the way that Regis has fostered the social and spiritual development of our son [...] Even in these early years of Pre-K, we have seen him have tremendous growth in his social presence.
Our hearts melt seeing our son improving and learning so much at [Regis].
We have seen steady academic and emotional growth throughout our son’s time in Early Childhood. Under the guidance of Regis’ excellent teachers, he has thrived not only in the classroom but also in his extracurricular activities.
I love hearing the laughter echoing through the Early Childhood hallways. And I love that Regis is a place where I feel like each boy is uniquely celebrated, no matter what their interests are.

The Regis curriculum is thoughtful, responsive, deliberate and custom. Our unique boy-centered curriculum allows teachers the latitude to choose learning experiences that are specific to boys. From the selection of topics, projects and classroom materials to the arrangement of classroom furniture to the pedagogy, faculty create an environment where
The Regis Experience
thrives.
In every Early Childhood classroom, there is a full-time teacher and a full-time assistant, allowing boys to receive the individualized attention they need during these formative years.
Regis Early Childhood students have P.E. daily. In addition to this, boys have breaks and recesses incorporated into their daily schedule as well.
Movement is not confined to the outdoors at Regis. In the spirit of
Goal V
, boys are encouraged to move within the classroom as an aid to their learning experience. Classroom instruction is designed for this freedom of movement, whether it be working in small groups, rearranging classroom furniture to best suit the lesson at hand or participating in lessons while sitting on the floor.
All Early Childhood students take a developmentally-appropriate Spanish class taught by a native speaker as one of their ancillaries. The objective of the class is to introduce the students to the Spanish language and to present lessons and strategies that motivate them to love learning a second language. Studies show that children who are exposed to a second language at a young age have significant cognitive advantages and it facilitates later learning.
The
MakerSpace
experience in Early Childhood is an extension of classroom learning, themes and social development. MakerSpace promotes curiosity, engages the boys in problem solving activities and allows for experiences to nurture creativity.
