A guide to visiting Vizcaya with children
At Vizcaya, we understand that planning an outing with children requires a bit more preparation. Please use this page as a guide to help your family discover the magic of this National Historic Landmark.
Here you’ll find useful information, such as maps and stroller information, as well as engaging activities and materials to help make Vizcaya equally fun for bigs and littles.

Where to Eat
The Vizcaya Café and Shop is located on the north side of the Main House, next to the Swimming Pool Grotto and across from the Orchidarium.
Visitors can enjoy grab-and-go food options and beverages as well as shop for gifts inspired by Vizcaya’s architecture, gardens and collections. Only guests who have purchased museum admissions have access to the Café and Shop.
The Café is open 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when the museum is open to the public. Click below to learn more and check out the menu.

Activities for Children
Coloring Book
Whether your child is an aspiring artist or just loves to color, the “Vibrant Vizcaya” coloring book helps open your little one’s eyes to the wonders of this intricate estate.
The coloring book can be downloaded and printed in advance of your visit. It can also be used as a digital resource on a mobile device in tandem with notetaking or coloring apps.

Biscayne Bay Animal Origami
Explore the fascinating wildlife of Vizcaya and Biscayne Bay through the art of paper folding. Create beautiful origami models of native fish, turtles, and frogs that are found in the waters and surrounding areas of Biscayne Bay and Vizcaya’s formal gardens and native forests.

Sensory Kits
Sensory Kits
To support visitors who may experience sensory overwhelm, Vizcaya offers
free sensory kits
designed to help guests feel more grounded and comfortable during their visit. A sensory kit is a collection of tactile, visual, and calming tools that can help reduce stress, ease anxiety, and provide positive sensory input in unfamiliar or stimulating environments.

Flip chains
Motion bubbler
Speed cube
Light-up spikey ball
Noise-reduction headphones (child size)

How to Request a Kit |
Admissions Booth and Main House
Kits can be checked out upon request for free and returned to a staff member when you purchase tickets at Admission or at the entrance to the Main House. These are available on a
first-come, first-served basis
and quantities are limited.
Whether you or your child need a quiet moment or a calming activity, these kits are here to ensure everyone can enjoy their time at Vizcaya.
Strollers
The main house
Due to the dimension of historic arches and doorways, only single strollers and strollers less than 25 inches wide may enter the Main House.
Larger strollers are only allowed in the gardens. These may be left in the Entrance Loggia or outside the front entrance to the house.
Please be careful to avoid contact with doorways, walls or furnishings.
Note that the first floor of the Main House features a number of steps in different areas.
No strollers are permitted on the second floor of the house.
The gardens
Strollers are welcome throughout the gardens.
Please note the estate features a variety of different terrains, including coral floors, grass, gravel and sand, among others.
Day camp
What are your children up to on teacher planning days? They could visit Vizcaya Museum and Gardens for an exciting new Day Camp!
Through this unique drop-off opportunity, children can explore the historic estate in a supervised, educational setting that includes tours, art projects, games, and the exploration of Vizcaya’s natural beauty and habitats. Campers will tour the estate, make art, play games, and explore Vizcaya’s natural communities in a supervised, educational setting.
Ages are 5-12.
Campers will be sorted into groups by their age range.
Pricing
The cost provided below is per child per day.
Member Rate: $40
Non-member Rate: $60
Space is limited to 50 spots per date. Save with a multi-day package.
