Beyond the Classroom
Beyond the Classroom
is a juried art exhibition created to spotlight the talent of local high-school artists. Open to students in grades 9–12 from public, private, home-school, and alternative programs, the exhibit invites young creators to submit their best work, from traditional media to innovative, experimental pieces. Selected artworks are displayed in the museum as part of the annual
Beyond the Classroom
showcase exhibition.
Awards & Student Opportunities
The program provides meaningful recognition and support for emerging artists:
Scholarships
for art classes, college-level courses, or art supplies are awarded to top-scoring students, as chosen by a qualified jury panel.
Juried feedback
is given to all participants, offering valuable guidance for growth, portfolios, and future art studies.
Public exhibition experience
gives students the chance to display their work in a museum setting.
Who Can Participate
Beyond the Classroom
is open to
all Matanuska Valley-area high-school students
, regardless of school type or district.
The program is organized by the museum with the support of community partners and local sponsors, who help make the scholarships and exhibition possible.
