The best part about scholarships is that they do not have to be repaid. Scholarships are available through a variety of sources and are often based on academic merit, special talent, extracurricular activities or area of study. This results in different application procedures and deadlines. Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the best way to discover the types of federal funding for which you qualify. Some scholarships require financial need in addition to a good GPA or other criteria. Submit the FAFSA each year that you are in college to expand your eligibility for gift assistance. Institutional-Funded Scholarships Newly admitted students are automatically considered for institutional-funded scholarships (IFS) based on the merit of their admission application (GPA, SAT/ACT test scores, class rank). No separate application is required. Selected students are notified by mail shortly after receiving their admission acceptance, and the scholarship will appear on ERNIE. Amounts range up to $27,000 for freshmen and $15,000 for transfer students. For more information, visit the Prescott Financial Aid ERNIE Department page, under Scholarships (requires login). Donor-Funded Scholarships As a result of the generosity of our donors, the university has hundreds of scholarships for current Embry-Riddle students with an established ERAU GPA. Continuing students may apply using one online application, which becomes available every November at erau.edu/scholarships . The priority submission date is March 1 each year. Scholarship amounts vary from $500 to $10,000. For scholarships that require financial need, students must also complete the FAFSA by March 1 to be considered. Donor-funded scholarships are not automatically renewable, and completing the application does not guarantee that a student will receive a scholarship. Only fields marked with an asterisk on the application are required, but please provide as much information as possible to increase your chances of being selected. Selected students are notified by email, and the scholarship will appear on ERNIE. If selected, it will be paid in the fall and spring semesters of the following academic year. For more information, visit the Prescott Financial Aid ERNIE Department page, under Scholarships (requires login). Don't have leadership, honors or community activities? Apply anyway! Some scholarships do not require extracurricular activities. You can't win if you're not in! Congratulations donor-funded scholarship winners! Last year, 303 donor-funded scholarships valued at $1,195,995 were awarded to Prescott Campus students. Awards ranged from $500 to $33,832, with an average award of $3,947. Boeing Scholars The Boeing Scholarship is for new incoming students seeking careers in aviation with a special interest in aeronautical science and aviation maintenance science. Preference is given to females, veterans (or their spouses/dependents using the GI Bill or related programs), and underrepresented minorities with a strong academic background and demonstrated financial need (as determined by the FAFSA). Please complete the Boeing Scholars application to be considered for the program. Award amounts range from $5,000 to $7,500 per year for two years. Selected students are notified by mail, and the scholarship will appear on ERNIE. Boeing scholarships are automatically renewed for the second year if a 2.5 cumulative GPA is maintained. Students must enroll full-time (12 or more credit hours) each term to qualify for disbursement. Award amounts ranged from $100 to $41,553, with an average award of $3,158. Send external scholarship checks directly to the ERAU Financial Aid Office at 3700 Willow Creek Road, Prescott, AZ 86301 to have the funds applied to your university account. Make checks payable to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and be sure to include the student’s full name and ID number on the check or in a letter attached to the check. Donors should specify which semester(s) the funds should be applied to in addition to any minimum enrollment requirement for disbursement. Reminder Many scholarships require students to maintain a minimum GPA in order to remain eligible (if renewable). Changing majors, dropping/failing classes and other factors can also affect your scholarships. Be sure to understand the conditions of your offered aid.
