Public Housing Resident Resources
If you’re a NYCHA public housing resident, here’s everything you need to know, from how to pay your rent, how to apply for a parking permit, getting repairs done in your apartment and more.
In addition, you can also learn about critical programs and services available to residents from external and internal partners, with a focus on economic opportunity, youth, seniors, and social services. NYCHA also supports NYCHA’s extensive network of resident leaders as part of its work to strengthen the relationship between residents and the Authority.
Use the tabs above and to the left to find all the information you need and check back often for new resources, policies and procedures, and announcements.
Resident Handbook
NYCHA’s Resident Handbook has a variety of helpful information for new and longtime residents alike – from how to pay your rent or replace lost keys to details about the pet policy. This Handbook is a plain language summary NYCHA prepared to assist you in understanding public housing residents’ rights and responsibilities. For a complete description of residents’ rights and responsibilities, please see the lease, the Highlights of House Rules, and the Admissions and Continued Occupancy Plan (ACOP), as changed from time to time.

Nostrand Houses will be the first NYCHA development whose residents will vote on whether to have their development renovated through the Public Housing Preservation Trust or the separate Permanent Affordability Commitment (PACT) initiative, or whether they want to remain in the current Section 9 program.
