Liver, Renal, Urology, Transplant, Gastro/Gastro Intestinal Surgery :: King's Health Partners Liver, Renal, Urology, Transplant, Gastro/Gastro Intestinal Surgery The Liver, Renal, Urology, Transplant, Gastro/Gastro Intestinal Surgery Clinical Academic Group (CAG) has made significant advances combining expertise in basic immunology and transplantation biology. Our CAG includes a clinical programme of solid organ transplantation in adults and children, programmes of cell transplantation, an Integrated Medical Research Council (MRC) Centre for Transplantation, and has been a part of UK Regenerative Medicine Programme’s Immunology Hub. We manage some of the largest transplant patient cohorts in Europe, delivering excellence in research and clinical trials. We have a comprehensive digestive diseases centre, aligned diagnostic and interventional endoscopy services and a major coordinated programme in obesity surgery. Within our CAG, we are pioneering programmes of alcohol management. We also have a comprehensive specialist urological service based on three sites, with distinctive cancer, robotic surgery and research and training in urology. Education and training Our CAG is a training centre of excellence in cancer and inflammatory bowel disease services. We have award-winning programmes for e-learning (urology) and robotics (urology), a Tempus Eastern European transplant programme, and an Emory-King’s College London training programme in transplantation. We are a distinctive educational cluster incorporating specialty, nursing and student leads. Research We are a research centre in the School of Immunology and Microbial Sciences, King's College London for patients with liver, kidney and pancreas disease, and contribute to cell transplants for patients with metabolic disease including stem cell innovation for tissue repair and acceptance. We have high impact research publications, with over 700 original papers. Our MRC centre for transplantation and immune tolerance is actively developing novel cell therapies to prevent rejection of transplanted organs and/or cells in patients across King’s Health Partners. As the Liver, Renal, Urology, Transplant, Gastro/Gastro Intestinal Surgery Clinical Academic Group at King’s Health Partners, our key aim is to integrate excellence in clinical services, research and education to continually improve the patient care that we provide. Our liver transplant outcomes are among the best in the UK, and our renal and bone marrow stem cell transplant programmes aim to improve our already excellent clinical results.
