Welcome Message From the President
On behalf of the Kentucky State University Board of Regents, faculty, staff, and students,
it is my honor to welcome you to The College on the Hill. Since our founding in 1886
and our subsequent designation as an 1890 land-grant university, Kentucky State has
been more than a campus on a hillside overlooking the Commonwealth’s capital city.
It has been a community of purpose, resilience, and achievement—a place where generations
of students have turned aspirations into opportunities.
Kentucky State is proud of this heritage, but equally committed to the future. Guided
by
Vision 2028: Thorobreds Leading for Impact
, the University is moving forward with purpose to realize four key pillars: Affordable
Access, Transformative Engagements, Equitable Student Success, and Sustainable Educational
Resources. In doing so, we fulfill our vision to foster innovation and inspire leaders
to advance the Commonwealth and the world.
At the heart of this work is a student-first philosophy. Our talented faculty create
rigorous, hands-on learning experiences, and our dedicated staff provide the support
that allows students to excel. Through our research and Cooperative Extension programs,
