Early childhood applicants will grow with our hands-on experiential learning. Candidates applying to our
Lower

should have a strong desire to achieve in the classroom and be committed to learning and developing their extracurricular interests and activities.
We enroll students from a wide range of socioeconomic, geographic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. We also proudly accept students from right here in Middlesex County, all of New Jersey, and other states and countries. Our Edison campus is easily accessible from areas like Summit, Millburn Township, Cranford, Somerset, Garwood and Bridgewater.

Please note, you will also be asked to take further steps to finish your application including download release forms and obtain teacher evaluations. The Application, Family Statement, Student Questionnaire and Essay (Grades 6-12 only) must be completed and submitted along with the non-refundable $75 application fee; International Student application fee is $200.

Once the admission application has been submitted, the Admission Office will reach out to schedule your required day visit. All Middle and Upper School applicants will be paired with a Student Ambassador to shadow during their visit and will have their interview on that day. All Lower School applicants will spend their visit in classrooms and complete their admission screening.
PreK(3) - Grade 1:
Applicants will be assessed on the day of their school visit and/or playdate. This admission screening is administered by the Admission Team.
Grades 2-11:
All applicants must take the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Examination) and submit the results to the Admission Office.
Wardlaw+Hartridge will administer this exam onsite on Saturdays during the admission season.

1. Confidential School Report and Records Release Form
Enter the names of the applicant’s Principal, Head of School, Counselor or authorized officer to request these forms be completed.
2. Teacher Evaluation Forms
Enter the names of the applicant’s teacher(s) to request these forms be completed. Students applying to PreK(3) – Grade 5 require only one teacher recommendation form; students applying to Grades 6 – 11 are required to submit an English and math teacher letter of recommendation.
If your child has one teacher for both math and English, please have that teacher fill out both recommendation forms.

The Wardlaw+Hartridge School has a February 1 priority deadline. If all application materials, testing and supporting documents are submitted to us and the day visit has been completed by that time, an admission decision will be mailed to you by March 10. Applications received after February 1 will be considered on a rolling admission basis, based on space availability.
The final step is completing your enrollment contract and paying your deposit. Your child's spot will not be secured until this final step is complete.
