Rezan Has Museum embraces the responsibility of preserving the thousands of years of cultural heritage of Anatolia and its surrounding regions as one of its core missions. In this context, the conservation and restoration of the artifacts in the museum’s collection are carried out in two laboratories within the museum, both equipped with advanced technical infrastructure. Our laboratories are designed in accordance with scientific, ethical, and international standards to ensure the protection and long-term sustainability of cultural heritage.
The conservation and restoration laboratories are staffed by expert conservators who carefully carry out documentation, condition assessment, preventive conservation, active conservation, and restoration of archaeological objects made from terracotta, glass, metal, stone, and various organic and inorganic materials. Each object is evaluated in terms of its material properties, manufacturing techniques, and deterioration processes, and all interventions are planned in accordance with the principles of minimal intervention and reversibility.
The work conducted in our laboratories is not limited to treatment processes alone; scientific documentation, photographic recording, as well as analysis and reporting, form an integral part of conservation practice. Thanks to the expertise and interdisciplinary approach of our conservators, objects are prepared for display while preserving their authenticity. These comprehensive efforts contribute to the continuous development of the collection in terms of both quality and scope.
