About Us
Initially purchased in 1853 as a building spot and 200 acres for priestly formation for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn, which then encompassed the entirety of Long Island, this historic structure, named
The Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, was dedicated and formally opened on September 28, 1930. Funding for the construction was made possible by the support of generous parishioners from the Brooklyn Bridge to Montauk Point. Until 2012 it served as a seminary for priestly and diaconate formation until it began its transition to a fully-functioning retreat and conference center.
Celebrating nearly one hundred years since its opening, the Retreat & Conference Center of the Immaculate Conception continues to be an active, vibrant center of respite, spiritual formation, and a gathering place for all who seek to be renewed.
Situated in Huntington, Long Island, about forty miles from New York City, the Seminary now stands 18 acres with neighboring trails overlooking Cold Spring Harbor, Lloyd Harbor and Oyster Bay. The unique beauty and tranquility of our building and grounds offer an ideal setting for retreats, days of recollection, parish staff meetings, picnics, workshops, seminars, meetings & conferences.
