ECITB Work Ready Programme
The ECITB Work Ready Programme is a 16-week industry-focused training opportunity for adults aged 19 or over before the 31 July 2025 who want practical engineering training, employability support and a clear pathway into work. Designed to address skills shortages across the Engineering Construction industry, the programme helps learners build confidence, gain recognised qualifications and step into semi-skilled roles.
Delivered in partnership with local colleges, employers, the ECITB and the Department for Work and Pensions, the programme combines classroom learning, hands-on training and, where available, industrial work placements. Learners who meet the required standards for attendance, behaviour and achievement are guaranteed a job interview, with some employers offer conditional job offers at the start of the programme.
This fully funded opportunity is open at no cost to eligible learners, and those receiving Universal Credit or Jobseeker’s Allowance retain their full benefits throughout. By the end of the course, participants will be work ready and equipped to support industry needs both regionally and nationally.
Qualifications you will achieve
Learners will complete a vocational qualification covering a range of engineering activities, a Level 1 Welding Award, and a recognised engineering qualification, supported by employability skills training. Additional ECITB endorsed work ready certifications include:
CCNSG Safety Passport
Manual handling
Handheld and abrasive wheels
Working in low risk confined spaces
Working at height
Safe use of hand power tools
You will also undertake the ECITB Digital Passport that includes:
Using devices and handling information
Creating and editing documents and spreadsheets
Digital communication
Correspondence and presentations
Online safety
