Our immersive experiences are designed to take you deeper into topics that interest you most, combining traditional classroom learning with hands-on experiences on and off campus. The Power of Experience Immersive experiences are a key part of your Knox education. What you learn in the classroom is even more valuable when you see the difference it makes in the real world. Immersion terms focused on a single topic Immersive Terms Our one-of-a-kind immersion terms—a focused, hands-on exploration of a single field of study over the course of a term—give you the opportunity to spend an entire term dedicated to something you love. Clinical Psychology Term Spend a term working in the same settings as psychologists, counselors, and social workers. Clinical Psychology Term Green Oaks Term Live and work out at our 700-acre Green Oaks among a small community of students and professors. Green Oaks Term Open Studio During Open Studio, you’ll prepare for a senior exhibition of your artwork without other distractions. You’ll meet regularly with your artist mentor and engage in regular critiques as you refine your vision and experience life as a working artist. Open Studio Repertory Theatre Term It’s the only undergraduate theatre program of its kind. Spend 10 weeks designing, building, rehearsing, and performing two full-length productions as part of a working repertory theatre company. Repertory Theatre Term StartUp Term You don’t have to be a business major to start your own business. You’ll pitch your business ideas to a panel of faculty and successful entrepreneurs, develop a business plan, analyze markets, and create a product. And your startup doesn’t have to close up shop at the end of term, either. StartUp Term Immersion Summer: Six Weeks of Collaborative Research Experience the life of a working scientist. Join a team of student and faculty researchers to pursue discoveries in areas from AI to media literacy. Summer Scholars Program Short-Term Immersive Experiences: One, Two, or Three Weeks Take what you’ve learned in the classroom and put it to work. Teach at a Navajo reservation school. Put your Spanish language skills to work helping immigrants in border communities. Take part in an archaeological dig in Jordan. Or build your network making new professional contacts in Chicago, Kansas City, Indianapolis, and beyond. Each spring, students from all academic disciplines come together to protect and nurture the native tallgrass prairie at Green Oaks by conducting a controlled burn.
