Western Welcomes Rachel Macor to Counseling Program
April 21, 2026
Western Seminary is pleased to announce that Rachel Macor, PhD Candidate, is joining the core faculty team for the Portland and Online
MA in Counseling
program. Macor is completing her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of the Cumberlands (anticipated finish this summer), where she is wrapping up her dissertation entitled "The Perils of Avoidance: Illusory Post-traumatic Growth in Holocaust Survivors".
"We are excited about what Rachel will bring to the counseling program and the tremendous blessing she will be to our students," said John Y. Kwak, vice president of academic affairs and dean of faculty.
Macor received an MA in Psychology from Seattle University and works as a Licensed Mental Health Therapist (LMHC) in the state of Washington. She brings to Western more than a decade of teaching experience.
“As a trauma therapist I love finding psychological principles of counseling and treating trauma in the Bible,” says Macor. “Throughout my career as a counselor, supervisor, and educator, I have become increasingly convinced that the most effective care for hurting people is rooted in both clinical excellence and a deep, biblically informed understanding of the human heart.”
Macor will begin teaching courses this summer at Western.
