Parental Leave system
Parental Leave is a system that can be utilized equally by both female and male Faculty & Staff who have children aged 8 or younger or children in the second grade of elementary school or lower.
Through the leave of absence, you can participate intensively in childcare
, find emotional stability with your child, and form an attachment relationship
.
In particular, male Parental Leave helps improve the relationship with one's wife by allowing one to experience her difficulties, and enables active participation in housework and childcare even after returning to work.

Article 58 (Parental Leave) of the Employment Regulations
Target
Faculty & Staff with children aged 8 or younger or in the second grade of elementary school or lower
Parental Leave may be permitted even before childbirth if there is a diagnosis from a medical institution that absolute rest is required to prevent miscarriage or stillbirth due to reasons such as a history of miscarriage or stillbirth or advanced age.

Parental Leave is included in the length of service, so there is no disadvantage regarding promotion, severance pay, etc.
Extension of the deadline for performance evaluations (tenure point, reappointment) is possible during maternity/ Parental Leave.
Even if you take maternity or Parental Leave , the relevant period is included in the length of service.
Failure to extend the minimum years of service required for promotion/salary increase review
The total appointment period may be extended by two years with the approval of the President in the event of childbirth or childcare.

Q. What is the duration of Parental Leave if I have two children?
Since it can be used for up to 3 years per child, if you have 2 children, you can use it for 3 years each, for a maximum of 6 years.
In addition, as it is a worker's right, if both parents are employees of our organization, the father and mother can use it for up to 3 years for one child.
However, if used simultaneously, Parental Leave benefits will be provided to only one person.

To alleviate the burden of income reduction caused by Parental Leave, the government
provides Parental Leave benefits
through employment insurance.

Target
Employees who apply for Parental Leave of 30 days or more and satisfy all of the following conditions
Workers with an insured employment insurance period of 180 days or more prior to the start date of Parental Leave
If the spouse who is an insured under employment insurance has not been granted Parental Leave of 30 days or more for the same child
For those not enrolled in employment insurance (subscribers to the Private School Teachers' Pension), UNIST and Technology provides allowances equivalent to those for employment insurance.

For the first three months from the start date of Parental Leave , 80% of the regular wage (maximum of 1.5 million won per month, minimum of 700,000 won),
From the fourth month until the end date, 50% of the regular wage is paid monthly (maximum 1.2 million won per month, minimum 700,000 won per month).
75% of Parental Leave benefits are paid monthly, but 25% is paid six months after returning to work.
In cases where both parents of a teaching Faculty & Staff enrolled in employment insurance sequentially take Parental Leave for the same child, the Parental Leave for three months will be increased to 100% of the ordinary wage (with a monthly cap of 2.5 million won).
For single-parent workers among Faculty & Staff enrolled in employment insurance, 100% of the ordinary wage is paid for the first 3 months (maximum 2.5 million won per month), 80% for months 4 to 6 (maximum 1.5 million won per month), and 50% for months 7 to 12 (maximum 1.2 million won per month).
