Talladega College to Confer Honorary Doctorates on Distinguished Leaders at 2026 Commencement
Talladega College will recognize two trailblazing women for their extraordinary leadership, service, and impact during its 2026 Commencement Ceremony on May 3. Rica L. Lewis Payton, Chairwoman of the College’s Board of Trustees, and Barbara Bigsby Boyd will each be awarded honorary Doctorate degrees in celebration of their lifelong dedication to excellence and community advancement.

Talladega College Mourns the Passing of Distinguished Alumnus and Civil Rights Attorney J. Mason Davis
J. Mason Davis Jr., a pioneering attorney whose work helped dismantle segregation in Alabama and whose leadership shaped generations of legal and civic leaders, has passed away at the age of 90. Talladega College joins the nation in honoring the life and legacy of one of its most impactful alumni.
