Welcome to Baltimore
Mixing small-town charm with big-city amenities, Baltimore is known and celebrated for many things, including its storied place in American history, quirky arts and culture, diverse and unique neighborhoods, museums and theaters, tourist attractions, sports teams, and much more. But what you might not know is that Baltimore is a great college town, too.
With 13 institutions, “Charm City” is a wonderful place for young people to learn and explore before launching their careers. Colleges in Baltimore attract talented and diverse students and faculty, boast impressive campus resources, and help foster deep connections to the community, the nation, and the world.
The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) contributes to this landscape with six professional schools — dentistry, law, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and social work — and its interdisciplinary School of Graduate Studies, all located on a 71-acre campus on the city’s Westside, a short walk from the bustling Inner Harbor.
And upon completion of your studies, why not stay and work in Baltimore? The city’s business community thrives amid a spirit of entrepreneurship, with fields such as health care, technology, research, and finance driving the local job market.
